Sorry if i've had my head in the sand............

I want to wish all who are recoverying and are soon to take

the " plunge " as Lee says...all the best.

I used to work as a Physical Therapy Techician and at one time was

studying to become a Physical Therapist.

All that have just had surgery, You can " ice " your boo-boos and

swollen abdomin with an ice pack COVERED with a dish towel for about

10 mins.

1-3 times a day. I would suggest before bedtime to help you fall

asleep. :) MAKE SURE TO KEEP THE AREA DRY. ZIPPLOCK BAGS WITH ICE

WILL DRIP. USE A TOWEL TO WRAP THE ICE.

Ice works to help with swelling we all know, but your body reacts by

sending blood to the " cold area " , essentially flushing out the area

and helping with the healing process.

This will help if you want to get off perscription pain meds or over

the counter pain meds, to control pain and swelling. Trust me I am

also an ex-basketball player who has had 3 major injuries to the

same knee. I've operated twice fr it and probably due for another

surgery, don't get me started.

Take it easy, take it slow, you could do too much and 3 hours later

pay for it ( not at the time of the activity).

lots of luck to everyone.

Does ice cream or popcicles help after surgery? I would think it

would also be good to eat lots of cold stuff...like it would feel

better.

again , you can check with your doctor if your not sure about this,

but it has been my experience MANY docs. forget about Physical

Therapy , and tend to use medicines to manage pain. And rightly so,

after I get cut open I better get some good drugs.

hope this is helpful
