Guest guest
Yes, Dear Notan, You are a Father, a Confessor Figure, and Thank Gawd for you! I agree with our Lilly Lady of London on this one! I must say that I am really very afraid that 1) I've got Barretts and nobody really discussed it with me, and 2) that I need to get into a doctor's office and get some square advice on this. I read the Mayo Clinic reports on Achalasia and on Barretts and it seems that if one has Barretts, there are choices: 1) remove the E., 2) do nothing but watch and wait, 3) do that photo-burnout thing of the lower E, 4) do a surgical lower E. thing, 5) do the surgery and watch closely with some possible follow-up of radiation and medication. Ugh. I also saw that Barretts' patients are sometimes told to take a PPI and watch and wait. BUT NOBODY TOLD ME TO WATCH AND WAIT. The guy who sent me down there was my old gastro. guy and not my new Achalasia advisor, Dr. Conklin. I left word at Conklin's office and I want him to tell me what he thinks. Esophageal cancer that follows Barretts Esophagus is usually lethal, according to the Mayo Clinic info. pages. I really would rather get some doctor to tell me to go ahead and to the E-ectomy than continue to take omeprazole and watch and wait. Ugh! Any Barretts/ Achalasia folks out there with an opinion tney'd care to offer? I'm all ears, folks! Gratefully yours, Deborah, at the beach THANKS, NOTAN. I always value your responses very much!
