Guest guest
Hey - where are you located? It's so hard to keep track anymore. Anyway, while -ectomies are not all that common for A, they are certainly done regularly in some places. As we find with a lot of docs, yours may just not really KNOW that much about A. How old are you? It has been my understanding that botox only works effectively for older people (60's,70's and beyond) if you are younger than that, I'd consider that option very carefully. Anyway, if you are looking for surgical referrals, I'd recommend Dr. Luketich at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He's doing about 150 -ectomies a year!! You can email or send him your records and he will respond with his opinion. He called me after receiving my email, within just a day or 2 and we spent 20 minutes on the phone going over my questions and concerns. He then had his staff send me studies that he'd participated in showing the survival rates and quality of life studies for people who'd had -ectomies. I was and still am very confident in his abilities and would recommend him. Of course, several memeber have also had -ectomies with Dr. Rice (I also contacted him and spoke with him on the phone). Sounds like it's time to do some research and fact finding on your own. Please feel free to ask anything more specific that you'd like to know. Good luck and keep us posted. - in NC achalasia free since Jan. 11th!!
