Guest guest
my grandson went to cincinnati and was there for four days. he is going to be seven in oct and has had problems most of his life. They checked his chest and it was good and clear, then went down into his lungs to see if they were ok which was very scary for mom and dad. when he aspirates some goes into his lungs or when he might have alittle bit of water. like a few swollows. he was lucky or i should say god was watching over him because his lungs were clear and better then his visit before. we were all thankful. however they found a tear in his throat and they can sew it repair it. this will not help hi m to eat or drink. it might help so he wont aspirate so much. the doctor said that he has cricopharyngeal dysmotality wave in the throat instead of part of his throat going down it goes up. so see some problems older people have to me dont seem so bad when a seven year old boy is starting out like this. He is very active smart cute everything a grandma and grandpa could ask for. He excepts things the way they are and is treated like anyother boy is. so say a pray for him, and be happy for what you can do and not what you cant do. thank you grandma nancy and bumpa
Guest guest
Dear Grandma , I am very very sorry to hear about your grandson's problems. It is so unfair when a little child has to deal with health problems, especially as severe as those that your grandson has to cope with. As a mother of two boys, one aged 10 and one aged 6, I completely understand where you are coming from and I understand your emotions here. I for one have always said how happy I am that it is me that got the achalasia and not one of my kids. Nevertheless I have suffered from my teens on as well, so as many others here on the board. There are several that suffered from their youngest ages as well. As much as I understand your feelings, I must add, that I really don't like the way that you mention that some of our problems aren't so bad. Just because we are no longer kids, our problems aren't that bad? Sure, I am very happy for what I can do, but from what I read you do not have a clue what some of us have to undergo day in day out, year in year out. It's the fight of our lives, as much as you have to fight the fight of your life with your grandson. Imagine your grandson having to see his mum or dad struggle for a bite of food each and every day... Imagine your grandson seeing his mum or dad crawl up against the wall because of the killing pain that the spasms cause... Imagine your son or daughter having to go in for major surgery, afraid that something goes wrong and they won't see their kid growing up... Imagine... You know, life sometimes isn't easy and life sometimes isn't fair. There are always worse cases then your own, and yes, that also goes for your grandson's case. Sorry, I didn't mean to get offensive here. But it's the fact that some people bagatalise our problems just to point out how rotten their own situation is that I cannot stand. I have always been the kind of person that tells others how lucky I am to have gotten my esophagus removed because of achalasia instead of cancer. I have always understood that there are many others that are off way worse than us achalasians. But I won't have anyone tell me how bad off they are themselves and how lucky we are. Once again, sorry, but you hit a touchy nerve in me with your post. I wish your grandson and you and your family all the luck, strength, positivity and nerves you need to get through this all.
