Guest guest
Yes, never give up. Never think they can con you into the latest surgery, which will benefit the medical residents more than the patients. Speak up. refuse to be silenced. > > I know how much you want Dr Rice to do Dakotas surgery! Guest guest
tonia- oh tonia. I am so disappointed. I try to get mad but I find myself cring. I know I need to get pissed but I hate what this is doing to my son spirit. everytime we think something is going to happen we get let down. he's so tired of this tube in his nose. he still cannot eat or drink anything. he's home now for the holidays and just hanging around makes him want to try and eat. dakotas local gi doctor has agreed to a peer to peer review of dakota's case with the insurance doctor. tonia I want to ask you a favor. would you be willing to write james story down and mail it to me so I can include it in a case agrument for a specialist. I need both medical, personal, emotional.. you know the whole can of worms to help us get through to this insurance doc. I know it's a lot to ask. but I really need some amimo. dakota's local gi has asked me to compile any information I can on why a specialist is the best person to do the surgery. I really don't know where to begin to collect this info aside from the people on this board. my home address is angela baker, 924 beryl ave. virginia beach, virginia, 23464. I'm thinking about asking the community at large if anyone would be willing to contribute their story. or if anyone could present medical evidence to show why a specialist is a prefered. I know a few people didn't use a specialist and are doing ok but dakota's gi wants to argue for a specialist. I just really need the amimo. ok sounds like I've asked already. I have e mailed and received a reply from the editor of our local paper. he says he can't help with the insurance stuff but maybe interested in doing an article on achalasia. maybe it will help draw attention. I sound desperate don't I. I'm going to take everyones advice and not give up the fight. but I need some good corner folks if I'm dancing in this ring. I know I have your love and support from day one and it has been a god sent to me. merry christmas to you and your family...angela - DONT GIVE UP! Guest guest
Dear , My heart goes out to you and Dakota. I feel for the fellow to have to see and smell food, but not being able to eat or drink. That tube in the nose feels and looks horrible, I know, and especially during the Christmas days... Christmas isn't just about food, I think we achalasians know that better than anyone in the world, the true spirit is to feel and give love and to celebrate life. You are right: you mustn't give up. You're doing the right thing, trying to get as many stories as you can. I am sure you will receive plenty. If you find the time, search for " Rice " on this board and I bet you find several stories where other docs messed up and Dr. Rice fixed... Merry Christmas! Guest guest
Hi , Regarding the circumstances, I am doing fine. The tube infection has gone. The antibiotics give me side effects, but I am on meds against those as well (I am a walking pharmacia -LOL-). Just two more weeks and the scar tissue is going to be cut away. I cannot wait for it to be January 7th! As I had my dilatation one week ago, I am on eating terms now -LOL-. So I will be enjoying some nice things to eat tomorrow. Just a few more days until things will close up again, so I better enjoy food to the max right now, eh? I am just very very tired. The kids have their season holidays now and take up a lot of my time of course. That's very nice and I love having them around, but with the lack of energy I have right now, I could do with some rest every now and then... Romeo will be home early this evening for Christmas and he won't have to go to work until Monday, so that will give me some rest. Guest guest
, We live in land and my husband was able to see Dr. Rice and have his " re-do " myotomy on 12/11/08. We SO wish we would've seen Dr. Rice the first go-round. Instead, we went to Temple----Cleveland Clinic by FAR outshines Temple, and I can't say enough about Dr. Rice! My husband has Blue Cross Blue Shield - the one where you can go anywhere as long as they're on 'the list'.....We're both fed employees and open season is this time of year....maybe you have some sort of open season as well and can change insurance companies?? Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't settle for anyone but Dr. Rice... My husband's doing well and can actually sleep on his side now - instead of all propped up. Dr. Rice told him he could have a normal Christmas Dinner, but we're still on soft foods for now...and everything is going down beautifully.....we won't know for certain where we stand until we go back in 2 mos. for follow-up tests, but for now, things are SO much better......we're very pleased with the outcome so far. Best of luck to you. > > Dear , > > My heart goes out to you and Dakota. I feel for the fellow to have to see and smell food, but not being able to eat or drink.
