Guest guest
Got my manometry done ...but alas there has been complete absence of any peristaltic movements... Initially we were planning to get that surgery done by first week of december but unfortunately with the latest coward terror strikes in mumbai of 11/26 , the date of my surgery has been postponed and the next planned date is 08 Jan 2009. It is really frustrating to face the anxious moments again.. ..Has anyone of you who have already undergone the myotomy succeded in getting those peristaltic movements back? do reply... Bye Sanjiv from Mumbai. From: michelle <mcnairmichelle@...> Subject: Sanjiv achalasia Date: Saturday, November 15, 2008, 9:00 AM sounds like you are on the right track Where are you located? Is your surgery going to be open? 5 days sounds like a lot. Most of our members who get surgery laproscopically only stay a day or 2 in the hospital. Good luck and keep us posted - in NC
Guest guest
Sanjiv, I don't think there is ever 100% restoration of peristalsis in Achalasia patients, if any. Surgery doesn't cure Achalasia it just makes swallowing better. If you don't mind can you tell me who is your doctor/surgeon in Mumbai. The reason I am asking because I am from India too but at present in United States and would really want to know my options in India if I ever need it. -Ayon > > From: michelle <mcnairmichelle@...> > Subject: Sanjiv > achalasia > Date: Saturday, November 15, 2008, 9:00 AM > > > > > > > sounds like you are on the right track > Where are you located? > > Is your surgery going to be open? 5 days sounds like a lot. Often peristalsis does improve some. But, it is unlikely that one would completely recover peristalsis. notan
Guest guest
Ayon.. Dr Deepraj Bhandarkar, at P D Hinduja Hospital, Mahim, Mumbai would be the one who shall operate upon...Infact the doctor who did manometry confirmed that persistalis may to some extent return...i hope even a fraction improvement would help me because at this stage there is no perstalsis at all...Further i still have apprehensions regarding the spasms you guys talk about after the myotomy...Do they increase and get over gradually or its different story all together after surgery...??? In case you require any help from end in any regard, pls feel free to contact me. Sanjiv - from Mumbai. Guest guest
Thanks for sharing your doctor info. I am 5 weeks post myotomy with dor fundo. I had some severe spams 3-4 days after surgery and then again couple of times later. They lasted around from couple of minutes to couple of hours. I still get it sometime but they are less intense. However I feel these spasms has something to do with irregular bowel movement after surgery. More my bowels are getting regular less spasms I am having, but this is just my observation and can be different for other people. Good luck for your surgery and please keep us informed how it went. -Ayon > > > > From: michelle <mcnairmichelle@ ...> > > Subject: Sanjiv > > achalasia@grou ps.com > > Date: Saturday, November 15, 2008, 9:00 AM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > sounds like you are on the right track > > Where are you located? > > > > Is your surgery going to be open? 5 days sounds like a lot.
