Interested candidates for the position described below should submit a detailed CV within 10 days stating current salary drawn and expected salary, and giving details of three references to: Manju Verma, Program Assistant Global AIDS Project American Red Cross 1, Red Cross Road New Delhi 110001 email: mverma@... _____________________________ TERMS OF REFERENCE TECHNICAL SPECIALIST – YOUTH (PREVENTION) ACTIVITIES GLOBAL AIDS PROJECT (GAP) Implemented by Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Supported by American Red Cross (AmCross) Background The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) has begun implementation of HIV/AIDS activities through the Global AIDS Program (GAP), funded through a cooperative agreement between the American Red Cross (ARC) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. Activities for the IRCS Global AIDS Program include: · Blood safety at IRCS blood banks · Prevention of HIV/AIDS, with special focus on youth · Home-based care · Capacity building of IRCS While the initial focus of the program has been on blood safety, we are now preparing to initiate prevention activities. The goal of this component of the program is to improve knowledge, attitudes, skills, practices and behavior in relation to HIV prevention among the youth and general population in selected high prevalence states, including Andra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Activities will include broad-based adolescent health education such as reproductive health and HIV/AIDS, through peers and teachers for in-school and out-of-school youth, their parents and community gate-keepers. This activity will be co-ordinated by Junior Red Cross (JRC) and Youth Red Cross (YRC) in the selected states and UT. The project will also establish voluntary testing and counseling centers (VTC) in selected State and District Red Cross branches. Job title: Technical Specialist, Youth (Prevention) Activities Grade/Salary To be negotiated based on experience Job Summary The post-holder will be based at the GAP Office, located in the IRCS Headquarters compound, New Delhi, with frequent travel to project areas. As an employee of IRCS, the post-holder will be responsible, for liaison, communication and assisting with implementation of the prevention activities of the IRCS GAP Prevention Project in India. The work will involve close collaboration with the AmCross HIV/AIDS Delegate, and the IRCS/ARC National Society Program Counterpart.
