Guest guest
I emailed Dr Pasricha, below is his reply. He wants to chat, maybe we can all come up with questions. Help me! I believe some combination of vitamins can help. Will start on L- Arginine again. I have a version from CVS called Arginine TR Plus which they say lasts 12 hours, and produces nitric oxide all day. It is a big pill but later in the day after a Coke I can get it down. I also take Magnesium 500 mg,vitamin D3 2000iu as well as Lotrel (BP) and Alluprinal for my gout ( as necessary). Once in a while NitroQuick not necessarly for the heart. My main problem is in the regurgitation, if I could stop it I could gain weight. It is definately from the stomach as I can clean out the e with a Coke. I eat soups , Ensure, Cokes, pasta Choclate ,ice cream and some bread. Some days I believe I have defeated Achalasia!!!!!!!!! I am sure Dr. Pasricha will monitor this site. Ray Thanks for your email. I used to be an advisor on this group (one of my former patients had started this several years ago). Because of my move to Stanford, I had dropped off but would be happy to help again in any way I can. As far as I know, in this country we are the main group looking at neural stem cell replacement as a cure for achalasia (and other disorders of the enteric nervous system). Perhaps you and I can chat and we can discuss how I can synergize with your group both to help all of you but also to push the field ahead. Regards Jay Pasricha Professor of Medicine and Surgery Chief Divison of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Stanford University School of Medicine ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- From: Ray Cherry [mailto:r_cherry_99@...] Sent: Sat 10/11/2008 1:14 PM Pasricha, Pankaj Jay Subject: Achalasia I found your patent 6808702 referenced on the Achalasia site below. achalasia/messages This site has 1700 members who discuss achalasia. I am 78 years old and developed Achalasia 2-3 years ago. I have not had an operation yet, just a bit of 16 mm balloon dilations. It is a terrible disease as I thought I had gastroparesis first but the nuclear test said I was on the high side. Later with the manometry test said I had achalasia. I am sure they are both related. I have found that magnesium 500 mg and nitroglycerine tablets really help me, so I have held off on an operation that would destroy the LES. Have lost a lot of weight . What I want to report to the group what you can tell us who are the experts in the Achalasia research field doing the stem cell research on achalasia. Maybe other drugs can also help. Guest guest
This is great. The first thing I would like to ask him how far they are from clinical testing on humans and how will it help people who already got a HM. Let me know how can I help. -Ayondeep > > I emailed Dr Pasricha, below is his reply. > > He wants to chat, maybe we can all come up with questions. Guest guest
What is the progress of stem cell treatment for achalasia--is stem cell replacement helpful for patients who have been treated with dialation or surgery--thanks, from Boston From: ayondatta <ayondatta@...> Subject: Re: Jay Pasricha patent 6808702 achalasia Date: Sunday, October 12, 2008, 8:44 PM This is great.
