Gail [HepatitisCSupportG roupForDummies] Treatment update Hi everyone, I am not sure when I last wrote so thought I should send an update out. I have made it through 5 weeks!!!! I did some blood work on week 4 and things came back great. One of my liver enzymes is back into a normal range at 36 where 3 weeks prior they were 200 points higher. That says nothing about the virus just that my liver is healing some. Overall treatment has not been bad. As I am on the treatment longer I am getting more and more tired. I slept right through my first class on mon and barely made it tuesday. School and my normal housewife duties are becoming a hard task. Its hard to do things when you can hardly stay awake. LOL Things are good though, Bob is really helping with chores around the house. He has been doing most of the cooking because by evening I am too tired. I could not have asked for a better husband, we have become better friends bcause of this whole thing. I am having memory loss too. Which is a normal side effect, so please know, if I forget to return calls or things like that please all dont take it personal. Thats about all here. I hope all is well with everyone. I would love an update from you too. Love
Guest guest
it is great to learn about what helps the itching. let us know how it work out and we can add one more thing that helps for itching. gail [Hepatitis CSupportG roupForDummies] treatment update Hello everyone, How are you doing today? I hope all is well with you. Please write me and tell me how things are on your end. Well, I had my 8th shot last night! 1/3 the way through!!! Things are good overall. I am tired and grumpy, but a nap mid day for a couple hours seems to help for the rest of the day. Bob hired a maid to help out every other week. This will take a lot of the stress I have from not having a clean house. Bob helps but he works so much that when he comes home and helps me with stuff he has no energy to clean either. They are just sweeping and moping and the bathrooms, the stuff that wears me out. Its strange to pay someone to clean but just to help me through treatment. My skin has become so irritable that I cant wear make-up. I had to change my face wash to organic, which has helped, it was looking like i was sun burned from other products. I can only use all natural hair products and body stuff. It helps the itching. What helps with shaving? Any suggestions? I am more itchy than before but its ok I am getting through it. Oh yeah I saw Bob looking at a spot on my head where I am losing hair. Not bad more noticeable to me than others. So thats my treatment update! On a side note our team raised $500 towards liver diease.
Guest guest
, I don't post much these days, but I do try to read all the post. Girl, you must be a Saint. You have put up with more than anyone else I've ever known. There is no way I'd put up with what you've had to deal with. I don't know all the rules and regulations of health care in your country, but there has to have some kind of controls for protecting the patience better than this. I would never in a million years go until after Christmas for the correction of this. If nothing else, I'd walk through the door of another hospital requesting emergency care. In addition you might do like another member of this board did. Call a reporter and have them print an article about the poor care you've gotten. I'd first get myself taken care of immediately. There is no excuse for the treatment you've been given. My heart is with you and I'm wishing you a lot of courage to handle this. Guest guest
Hello All I had a new J-Tube fitted last Friday afternoon. Within 2 hours it had 2 extensive bile leaks. (Gastro docs who placed the J-Tube had gone home for the day and told nursing staff to discharge me after a short rest.) I only got out of the bed and went to the changing room to change and the bile ran down my front soaking the hospital gown. I mopped up what I could with clean gauze and put clean dressings around the J-tube stoma and showed the soiled gauze to the nurses and that was when they told me that the docs had gone home. As it was a Saturday the next day I was told to contact the doc's team this morning (Monday) to ask for advice and was told that the J-Tube needs adjusting and to return to the hospital ward next Monday morning after Xmas. The point is these leaks are a long running problem now and my family and myself want it sorted out and I made this clear to the doc I spoke to on the phone this morning. I mean I now change the dressings on average 12-15 times every 24 hours whereseas before mu tube change I only changed the dressings 6-7 times daily. I have a cup of tea and the bile soaks the dressings, I have a snack and the bile soaks the dressings. This also happens when I go for a little walk. Terrible isn't it. I am so angry now. I am convinced that the bile leakage is conected to a possible liver problem as I have bad, bad pain under my right ribs going through to my back and have to take regular painkillers for this alone. Pff. Gastroscopy done at the same time showed that the web of scar tissue had contracted and that they dilated this web and so far I am able to swallow a little with liquid but of course every time I do this the bile leaks out. I keep asking the docs WHY?
Guest guest
Hi Isabella The hospital that I went to last Friday is the only one in my region of North West Wales and to go to another regional hospital I would have to first see the Gastro doc. and ask for a referral to another Gastro doc at another hospital. Anyway I contacted the Gastro Doc.'s secretary this morning as I have had enough of this bile leak and there is now green bile as well as the yellow bile and I am convinced that there is something to do with either the liver or stomach causing it but as the Gastroscopy was done last Friday and none of the docs have told me anything except that one of the nurses told me that the examination was fine. No other word about if they checked the bile ducts or Gallbladder or anything. Anyway the Gastro docs secretary said that the Gastro doc was out until lunchtime and that she will phone me back as regards with my request to see him ASAP in the New Year to discuss the bile leakage once and for all. I have reached the limit of my patience as regards this matter now and am in constant pain with it. God do I ramble. Sorry. Merry Xmas to everyone on this board and many thanks for any advice and support that I receive I do appreciate it even though I tend to ramble on these days. ________________________________ From: Isabella Arnold <arnoldisabella@...> achalasia Sent: Monday, December 22, 2008 3:29:24 PM Subject: Re: Treatment update Dear dear , You should NOW change hospital. Guest guest
Hi Maggie Many thanks for your post. Even though I have plenty of patience when dealing with doctors I have just about reached the end of my tether with the ones dealing with my bile problems. But never mind I will solve it one way or another. I am known for not quitting a problem once I have got my teeth into it. I may contact the Patient Association in the UK for advice if I don't get satisfaction. I will keep everyone posted as to what is going on. ________________________________ From: " LunaIam2@... Guest guest
Hi Isabella Many thanks for your return post. It is in fact by my choice that I am returning to the hospital next Monday for tube adjustment and hopefully to see the Gastro doc ASAP in the New Year. I just want to spend Christmas with the family now and enjoy what life that I have such that it is, but the docs know that I am onto the case. Will keep you posted. ________________________________ From: Isabella Arnold <arnoldisabella@...> achalasia Sent: Tuesday, December 23, 2008 12:43:22 PM Subject: Re: Treatment update Hi , The secretary shouldn't be calling you back, your doc should! Guest guest
Hi , OK, I can imagine you being fed up with things and wanting to enjoy the holidays, though I think it still might be wise if somebody had a look at things today or tomorrow... You know what message I got today? There is a new board in Holland, monitored by some (5)specialists (amongst whom one of mine...). Money for this board has been raised by a special foundation for stomach, liver and intestines diseases. It's a board and website especially for Dutch esophagael cancer patients, with loads of info concerning -ectomies etc. I plan to visit it and read it tonight, I've caught a glimp of it a minute ago and it looks amazing to me! Wishing you great holidays, , I hope you can really enjoy warm Christmas days and I wish you a very very happy and above all healthy 2009, in which you and your doctors take good care of you!
