Update on me - decided on Esophagectomy

Hi!

Had a long chat with my surgeon over the phone the other day. We

talked about a possible esophagoplasty, but he has never done one

before, cannot make any guarantees that I will be able to swallow

better after or that I will not need an 'ectomy at some point anyway.

However he has done over 500 'ectomies, and after looking at the

latest pics of my " E " thinks that that is the appropriate treatment.

My E is mega and tortuous and he thinks that it will only get worse. I

asked him what he would do in my place and he thought it would be

better to go for one big operation and be done with it [although I

know that its not always that simple]

I had considered going for the 'plasty to try and avoid having the the

'ectomy but if I will probably need one no matter what I feel I shall

have to summon up my courage and go for the 'ectomy.

I will ring his secretary tomorrow and let him know my decision, to

make an appointment with him and start the ball rolling. Feel a bit

scared already!!
