Guest guest
Ok.this is gonna be a bit long so..once again thanks to everyone that has ever lend an ear to me and listened to my venting!! Here is what we know so far. Its gonna be a long drawn out road..but at least we are working on something now! My ferritin is very low and my vitamin D is headed that way. I was taking Questran to slow down my digestion from when I had my gall bladder taken out. The drink will also cause your system not to absorb vitamin D and other fat soluble vitamins!! So it basically is a viscous cycle. She believes all of this could be caused by my gall bladder going south (but not completely sure because all of this started before my gall bladder was removed) in combination of my Achalasia surgery and my now eating habits, because of getting full really fast! SO..I am now taking tons of iron and going to start on tons of vitamin D (in the form of D3) tomorrow, and not taking the questran.as I haven't taken it in months and I'm still not absorbing stuff. In a months time if my body still is not absorbing what it needs to, we will realize I have a fat malabsorption disorder (which one and why..lord only knows). We don't know which came first..the chicken or the egg (the disorder or the gall bladder going bad, or if one caused the other???). But we do know that now with my gall bladder gone, and the dumping syndrome (which is not uncommon) does not help the situation!! Good gravy this is complicated!!! In a nut shell..I am not absorbing fats, so I'm not absorbing things that need the fat to get into my system!! Make sense??? So it is probably more then just my vitamin D that isn't getting into my system! She said it is probably all of the vitamins that need the fat to get into my system! So I go back to the doc in 4 weeks to have my ferritin and vitamin D checked and if at that time it isn't where she wants it, I will start iron infusions. As for the vitamin D, she will have to put me on mass doses (because some of it will find its way in but only in very large quantities) and I will have to be monitored while on it. UGH!!! What a mess I am!! Oh and I do have osteomalacia (which is from lack of vitamin D, causing muscle and bone pain), she would not do a bone scan yet, I am still young and the estrogen in my system should protect my bones! She wants to see if my body will take the vitamins or not!! If not then I will have to have one. Sorry so long!!!!! Hey but maybe once I get all of this figured out.if someone else has my issues I will be able to help them right???? Thanks to all of you again.
