Guest guest
Hi all, Dr. Rosemurgy did my heller's on 10/28 at USF Tampa General. It only took about 2 hours and my incisions are 4 holes at the diaphram plus a belly button hole. 2 Concerns are: 1. Since the surgery though I still have " clear " my throat by regurgitation in order to not inhald while sleeping. Foamy buildup still happening right below the epiglottis area. So basically I am spitting up about 1-2 ounces each night; not wretching or vomiting so I don't think that it is damaging the incisions but is this normal? The hospital staff assured me that I was hallucinating and could not possibly be regurgitating after the surgery. 2nd night postop they installed a suction device in my room and I was able to show them the foamy goop the I suctioned from my own throat from the sodas/milk they gave me to drink. I never got to see or even speak to Dr. Rosemurgy only his partner Dr. Ross, and she too said that it was impossible for me to need spit up postop. 2. The pain in my neck and shoulders is so severe that I have to take roxicet every 4 hours like clockwork just to cope with it. I am deep breathing like crazy to try and work out the gas but it actually feels like they wrenched my neck during surgery. I had surgery 2 years ago with an 8 inch abdominal incision for a hysterectomy due to cancer and I was off pain meds in 2 days. They used gas in that one also but I could move around to relieve the stabbing pains. Can you guys please tell me if there is something really wrong or is this normal recovery. 95% of what I drink/eat is going down but I can't believe how much I heard that I was being " dramatic " about choking in my sleep. One of the on call doctors actually told me that he needed to see patients who were really sick and to stop wasting his time. I am not a hysterical woman and if you guys say that I am worrying myself into saliva froth and knock it off; then I will seek anti- anxiety meds. Your opinions I respect because you have woken up gasping for air with this disease. Thanks, Stephany
