Guest guest
Dear All If I am not mistaken there is a diploma course for Tuberculosis and Chest diseases in India. I remeber hearing this when I was attempting to get thru the PG entrance exams as recently as 1995. Since TB and HIV coexist and have many similarities both clinical and behavioral its worth considering to integrate HIV into the above course. May be, call it " Diploma in Epidemic Infectious diseases " ?. But, in the long run, the most efficient thing is to include HIV into the medical cirriculum. There should be enough questions on HIV so that students and Post Graduates will be encouraged to read about the disease. In the immediate future Continuing medical education sessions and training workshops will help. We could have doctors in India with HIV experience conduct these sessions. If the number in India is less there are many Non resident Indian Docotrs (especially in USA) who have been treating HIV and are experienced. They may be able to make time for these training sessions. Presently, I am specializing in HIV and I am willing to contribute in this endevaour.
