Guest guest
Hi ! Thanks for your responses. Yes, I too would think that the fact that 1/20th of the usual smallest dose made me agitated was a sign I didn't need thyroid medicine. However, the next day I took 1/40th of the usual lowest dose, and it gave me a little more energy than normal and continued to make my usually ice cold hands and feet warm. This medicine (compounded synthroid in liquid, so I can take microdoses) was given because, like you, I have anti-thyroid antibodies (Hashimoto's thyroiditis). All of the other thyroid values were normal. So, it is interesting that I have this extreme intolerance for the synthroid. When the doctor gave me the prescription, he said, now 1 ml. will be 1/10th of the usual smallest dose and there is no way you will have a problem with this! Was he wrong! I started with half that amount (1/2 ml., or 1/20th smallest dose) and it was too much. I am not sure how to read the hhv6 and ebv antibody results, but that is how it is usually expressed (as a ratio). It says on the lab report for both that the antibodies are high. I have seen other people's postings for high ebv titers, and it is expressed also as this kind of ratio. Perhaps a medical type reading this could tell us why this is so, as intuitively you would be correct that a ratio of 1:640 would be LESS than 1:20 (the given reference range). Just wanted to say, also, that I am glad you post as much as you do. Your posts are always very thoughtful and interesting!

Hi, I couldn't take Synthroid, but can take amour thyroid - which is natural thyroid. Has anyone suggested this for you? It seems that thyroid tests aren't very accurate either, sigh... Take care, CHristie
