Status of Tuberculosis as a OI in PLWHA

Dear Forum subscribers,

There has been much thought and discussion of the inclusion of TB (P and

EP both, including plueral effusion) as an OI amongst HIV+ in the Indian

context. While in the western world, occurence and dx TB could be

included as an OI, with the high percentage of TB (> 50%) reported in

the indian context amongst HIV, has there been any clarification on the

subject - either by NACO or any other authority.

secondly, where would the plueral effusion be classified as PTB or EPTB

in the Indian scene among such patients.

I would appreciate and inputs and references on the subject
