Guest guest
Never heard of such a high dose of Vit E. Highest I've heard of is 800. What is rationale? Also, for L Carnitine, can you give rationale? [Patti: ] When my carnitine tests ( " normal " test from " normal " lab - not a specialty test) came back as extremely low, my doc looked in the PDR. It said that when carnitine levels are a low as mine, 2-3 GRAMS/day are indicated, however I can't seem to tolerate that much (could be herx). A carnitine test could tell you whether you need it, how much, or whether you're throwing your money away. Due to cost, this is important! [Patti: ] If you have prescription insurance it may be cheaper to buy it from a pharmacy. After insurance, my pharmacy only charges $18 for 270 grams of carnitine. I'm thinking it may be cheaper to buy CoQ10 from a pharmacy also. This is the next one I'm working on. Guest guest
I have heard that L-carnitine has been subject to double blind studies & came out looking pretty good. Is there a difference between pharmacy grade and health food store grade? Same question for CQ10. Steve
Guest guest
Is there a difference between pharmacy grade and health food store grade? [Patti: ] It is the same answer for all supplements, it depends. Often things in the health food store are only food grade (which is lower in purity than pharmaceutical grade). If it doesn't say pharmaceutical grade it probably isn't.
