The awardees include journalists from Manipur, Tripura, Assam and New Delhi, as well as from Hindi language newspapers in the capital and Madhya Pradesh. Their subjects include women's empowerment and role in policy-making in Nagaland, a study of Indian enclaves in Bangladesh, the role of media and advocacy in raising concerns about HIV/AIDS in Western India and the impact of erosion in Majuli, one of the largest riverine islands in the world, on its economic and cultural life.
