Guest guest
Hello, I'm new to this list. I see a lot of people are talking about the effects of taking the whey protein, so I thought I would share my experiences for what they are worth. In February 1999 I was almost totally bedridden with CFS, having been ill for just over 5 years. I was facing a long distance move and didn't have any idea how I would manage that. Then someone loaned me the cassettes of Dr. Cheney's talks on the whey protein (Immunocal) made that same month. I immediately ordered a box of the whey to try. I started on two packs a day of the Immunocal. I noticed increased energy and I started feeling better that first night. After a couple of days I increased the dosage to 3 packets a day, and I felt absolutely horrible. I cut back the dosage to one pack a day and it worked fine for me. I stayed on that dosage for the next 13 months. About 2 weeks after I started the Immunocal my health was much improved. From March through June of 1999 I felt about 80% recovered. Then my health and energy started to decline again. At the time I thought this was because I had been through a move, but later I came to believe that the effects of the whey protein had simply declined. In September 1999 I went through some NAET treatments for allergies to protein and dairy, and I seemed to once again get a bounce off the Immunocal - but never to where I had been with it before. In late March of this year I started on two packets a day of the Immunocal, and in April I switched over to 2 scoops a day of the ImmunoPro. While I think the ImmunoPro is a better product than the Immunocal, I can't say switching products or increasing the dosage improved my health very much. Still, I have quit the whey protein every so often just to see if it is still doing anything for me. I have found that if I quit the whey protein for 48 hours I become almost totally bedridden again - yet one packet of the whey protein will again quickly start to pick me up. At this time I'd say I'm probably 40% recovered from where I was at when I began the whey protein. After the first four months or so on the whey, that has remained fairly steady. I still feel it is an absolute necessity for me to take the whey just to have enough energy to be able to take care of myself. Some time back I did have correspondence from a Canadian PWC about her experience with the Immunocal. She had been a PWC for 15 years, and had been on the whey protein for about 2 years by that time. She said she had improved about 65% the first year and was up to feeling 75% better in year two on the Immunocal. The one thing I've had a problem with ever since I started the whey protein is with my skin. I have rashes and itching over much of my body. It seems like a detox reaction to me, although I haven't met any medical doctor who agrees with me on this. If anyone has any ideas that might help me with my skin problems, I'd sure appreciate hearing about them. Bob
