Stigma & discrimination can be eliminated from society only through a successful awareness programme which was demonstrated by chidren of the community organized by GAP-using different medium of communication - like skits, parodies, puppet show etc. Skits are a useful and popular medium of education and this was shown beautifully in the two and half hour programme. A healthy and peaceful society can be established by balancing equity & harmony. The presence of different leaders from the community, Maulavi, Christian, Brahmakumari, Swaminarayan sect and others set the tune for a harmonious society. A novel idea of a Gurjari market was set up where different communication and education materail were in a very colourful manner. Everybody's particiapition in programs need appreciation. On this day, GAP encouraged the active participation of principals, teachers of 32 schools and the community peer educators by presenting certificates for thier active participation and sustained effort to create awareness in society. Dr. R. B. Deshmukh - Project Director - Gujarat AIDS Control Society presided over the program. Dr. Deshmukh appreciated the endeavour of the NGO and the involvement of communities in the program. Dr. Deshmukh said that the various performances gave glimpses of the different activities in the community - which manifests the role of NGOs in prevention, control and care programs of HIV/AIDS in Gujarat and at a national level. ____________________________________
