Mike:

I posted to this board several weeks back, that I quit the Pro because

of severe pain....muscles, back...just all over body pain. It was

awful.

I was up to one teaspoon a day.

A few weeks ago I started the Pro again, at

one-fourth teaspoon a day, and within a few days all the body pain was

back in near full force. So I am back to Immunocal again.

However, I have so much energy on Pro, that my body....muscles...just

can't keep up....and of course, I overdo. It is like being on speed.

I am also having lots of stomach problems with IP. I am basically

stalled out around one tsp/day. I have no idea what causes this, but

I think Carol Sieverling may be on to a good system. She actually

uses discipline to manage her dose. Imagine! She bumps up by a

quarter tsp every two weeks. Based on my own behavior, I suspect the

rest of us may be a little greedy for results. I have noticed my gut

problems have subsided some since I backed off and have been holding

steady for a while.

I also found my tolerance for probiotics has dropped precipitously.

Tiny doses seem to help, but anything approaching a normal dose just

gives me the runs.

This is weird! You're the first person that's mentioned this problem

with IP and probiotics. The same thing happened to me. Do you, or

does anyone, know why this happens? Any guesses? So does the tiny

dose of probiotic you're takaing still help with the whey? I

actually

had to go off the IP for a while. I wanted to give my stomach a

rest.

During this rest time, I thought that I would first start my

probiotics. I would ramp up slowly to my target probiotic dose

(which

I had NO problem with before the whey); then I would get back on the

whey. Well...3 weeks later and I still can't up the probiotics.

I'm also wondering just what it is with the IP that's affecting our

guts. I have never had a dairy allergy, for example. In fact, I've

never had any stomach problems associated with my CFS until I took

the

whey.

Jackie,

I've never had dairy problems either, so I know that is not the

source of my problem. I'm not sure where I stand with probiotics

because I started IP right after a long bout of abx. I was already

having trouble tolerating acidophilus, but I think IP has made that

worse, though I can't say for sure because of the timing.

One thing that I think is helping is a seaweed based supplement

called Moduflan. A friend said it is helping him and a couple of

people he knows. My symptoms calmed down when I started it, but I

changed a couple of other things at the same time which gives me

lousy data, but I think I'll order some anyway. I just did a search

and found it on the net.

<SPECULATION ON> Leaky gut may be a significant factor. Laurie had MCS (thus leaky gut was probable), which via bromelain and imuplus, improved significantly before starting IP. We are doing 30 grams per day at present. You may wish to attack the leaky gut aspect before resuming IP<SPECULATION OFF>
