Karnataka Press Fellowships for HIV/AIDS Reporting

The Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society (KSAPS) and the India-Canada

Collaborative HIV/AIDS Project (ICHAP) request applications for a Press

Fellowship for Excellence in HIV/AIDS Reporting in Karnataka. One Fellow

each will be selected for Kannada and English language reporting.

ICHAP is a 5-year HIV/AIDS project funded by the Canadian International

Development Agency (CIDA) and implemented in collaboration with government

and NGO partners in the states of Karnataka and Rajasthan.

The Fellowship involves working closely with KSAPS and ICHAP in publishing

six in-depth stories on different aspects of the epidemic in Karnataka,

support for conference participation, a travel grant and a cash award. It is

envisaged that over the years a pool of such Fellows will collectively

address and facilitate improved and increased media coverage of the subject.

Interested applicants must submit the following no later than January 10,

2003.

· Updated CV with names and contact information of references

· Portfolio of his/her reports on HIV/AIDS that have appeared in English or

Kannada language press in Karnataka

· Statement of Purpose (700-1000 words) outlining why the candidate is

interested in the Fellowship, what aspects of HIV/AIDS they would like to

report on, and how they qualify for the Fellowship.

Selections will be made by a panel of senior journalists and HIV/AIDS

experts. Fellowships will be announced in March 2003. All applications must

be marked " Press Fellowship " on the cover and addressed to:
