Guest guest
From: Jackie Naiditch [mailto:french10@...] Has anyone on this list used any of the following: inhaling pure oxygen, using a rebreather mask a la Cheney's protocol, or using a hyperbaric chamber [Patti:] I've used inhaling pure oxygen with some success and a mild hyperbaric chamber with very exciting results. I really like having pure O2 available. I was using a protocol breathing about 1 hour of O2 for about 1 hour/day. Benefits are a *lot* fewer headaches, slightly better sleep and less muscle pain. You can read how to get oxygen without a prescription in my previous posts. [Patti:] My experience with hyperbaric oxygen (HBOT) has been very exciting. If you read my previous posts (just search archives for my name and HBOT) on this topic I detailed my HBOT protocol and the many benefits. I was very excited about the results. I rented the hyperbaric chamber for a month (GAMOW bag). My results lasted for about 3 weeks after last treatment. I am now back where I started before the bag. Unfortunately I had a complicating incident with a wild rabbit two weeks ago and don't know if my decline is due to the HBOT benefits " wearing off " or because of the rabbit. I have possibly become infected (or reinfected) with a rickettsial agent. I was stupid enough to stop to help a wild rabbit that had been hit by a car and was lying wounded in the middle of the road. Heart ruled head and I picked up the rabbit and took it to a vet. Only after picking up the rabbit and holding it for awhile did I realise that it was infested with fleas and mites. I showered and washed all my clothes Immediately after I got home, but that was not good enough. A couple days later I was scratching all over and became dramatically and precipitously worse. So with all my extra energy I washed all my bedding, packed it up in plastic bags, covered my mattress with plastic, and covered myself head to toe with basil, rosemary & thyme oils. I seem to have gotten rid of the mites (no more itching), but still feel horrid. Went to two different docs who said I couldn't have gotten anything from the fleas and mites on the rabbit, but of course I have my doubts. The good thing is that I was already on minocycline when I picked up the rabbit. [Patti:] So the upshot of this is that I don't know if hyperbaric treatment " just wore off " or if I got sick all over again from infectious agent from the wild rabbit?? In many ways I feel much worse than before HBOT treatment, so I'm worried that I got something new. [Patti:] I am thinking about buying a hyperbaric chamber (similar to GAMOW bag - but not the same thing) but will try a more aggressive O2 treatment first. As of 2 days ago I am using O2 while I sleep (my O2 saturation goes down to 80% while I sleep) . Too early to tell if this is " enough " but promising results so far. Since I used oxygen in the hyperbaric bag, it is reasonable to wonder if it was the oxygen alone that was responsible for my remarkable improvement, or if it was the combination. So, will use much more aggressive O2 treatment for a month and see results. If I don't have dramatic improvement in a month, will consider HBOT again.
