Guest guest
What exactly do the spasms feel like? Sometimes I get an achy chest pain. Is that the spasms? I am still new to all this and trying to figure out what all this is that seems to be going on with my innards. :/ Sent from my CrackBerry® powered by Virgin Mobile. HM and spasms Wondering what your experience is with spasms post HM - are they improved, or can they get worse? I can't even imagine that trade off for an HM and concerned about the prospect of spasms becoming more frequent or worse. Thanks, Kim
Guest guest
That's the only good thing for me post HM....less frequent and generally not as strong. Usually a few little sips of water work quick, or chewing on a Gaviscon tablet for the persistent ones. > > Wondering what your experience is with spasms post HM - are they improved, or can they get worse? Guest guest
You will absolutely know when you have a spasm. For me, they can radiate from the jaw down to the stomach. It feels like a crushing, hot stabbing pain in the entire thorax that totally incapacitates you for the duration. Many say its similar to angina. Sounds like you may be having very mild spasms if at all. Hope it stays that way for you! Guest guest
Yep, it's like a achy chest pain. I only get one each day and sometimes I get through a whole day without one. Before my HM they used to stop me in my tracks until I gulped heaps of water. Now they seem to have eased in their severity, but they are still there, and the worst part is you never know when it's going to strike! I probably get 80% of mine in the early hours while in bed. Guest guest
I'm only 6 months post HM, but mine have actually been more frequent since the surgery; HOWEVER (BIG however there), they are MUCH less severe and shorter in duration. They used to take me down for 36 hours...now they're more like frequent mini episodes. Life is MUCH better post HM. I manage mine with phenergan suppositories. > > > > > Wondering what your experience is with spasms post HM - are they improved, or can they get worse? Guest guest
After my second dilation last year my chest pain is less frequent and less severe than it used to be. One thing I noticed is to eat long before you go to bed. I need to eat at least 3 hours before I go to sleep or I get woken up out of bed with chest pain.  Kim A ________________________________ From: ladawki143 <lauramccarty77@...> achalasia Sent: Wednesday, January 25, 2012 9:17 AM Subject: Re: HM and spasms  I'm only 6 months post HM, but mine have actually been more frequent since the surgery; HOWEVER (BIG however there), they are MUCH less severe and shorter in duration.
