Guest guest
I met with Dr. Roy Cobean at Casco Bay Surgery today. I expected him to order more tests but he says he has no doubt that what I have is A. Surgery is scheduled for April 13th. He said if my condition worsens he can move the surgery date up. I really liked Dr. Cobean. He was very upfront about the whole thing. He explained the surgery very well and has done almost 200 of these surgeries. Of the almost 200 surgeries, he has only had two that perforated. S
Guest guest
Good luck with your surgery! I guess you know that is Friday 13th? I only know because that's my (and hubby's) birthday! Guest guest
That is one of the reasons I like the date. I was married October 13 and we joke about the date all the time. Even hubby sees this as a good sign. S -- Re: I have my surgery date Good luck with your surgery! I guess you know that is Friday 13th? I only know because that's my (and hubby's) birthday! Guest guest
I have always thought it was lucky for me too, having a birthday on the 13th! > > > > I met with Dr. Roy Cobean at Casco Bay Surgery today. Guest guest
, it looks to me like you are in very good hands: his site has one of the sanest and fullest explications of what happens with a Heller that I've seen from any surgeon. Lucky girl! http://www.cascobaysurgery.com/Heller-info.htm I also like that he's sensitive to the fact that A can suddenly get very bad, and isn't just expecting you to take up the slack if it does. And a Friday the 14th is *such* good luck, lol! (Sez the child of a marriage created on a Friday the 13th. . . .) in WV > > I met with Dr. Roy Cobean at Casco Bay Surgery today. Guest guest
Thanks. I am looking forward to a good outcome. He told me that people ask him what his favorite surgery is and he said the myotomy. He also agreed that dilations before surgery make it more difficult so he doesn't recommend them. When I spoke with him he gave the impression that the doctors should have referred me sooner. The only bad thing is it is a 2 1/2 hour drive to get there but I can't wait to actually see some improvement. He did say that I would feel a difference immediately. He had one patient who said he didn't feel any different and he was ready to go back in and fix it right then and there but the patient belched and was better. He takes pride in getting it done right. He also says he does it in a way that leaves him room to re-operate in the future if it is needed. He even showed me where the incisions would be made. At this point I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is in Maine and needs to have this done. Guest guest
I hear you on distance. My surgeon is 4 hrs away. It is worth it though I think. I was just out shoveling snow and the bending over cause my brekkie to come back up. At least I can have something different for brekkie #2. LOL Good luck in April. I am hoping to be done in March!
