Less common are the 24hr pH test or manometry. He may want to talk to you first before deciding on doing tests and which if any. If you are doing very well he may decide no testing is needed this soon. The frequency of follow-up testing is kind of like colonoscopy testing. When and how often you get tested depends on your symptoms and past history and how your doctor feels about the benefits vs risks and costs of testing. Some only test when there are symptoms suggesting a need. notan
Guest guest
I had one follow up after 2 weeks and not one appointment since then. My procedure was in December, 2010. > > hello. > haven't posted in forever. Heller myo with wrap done in june 2010 by dr. rosemurgy in tampa. What is commonly done as follow tests and such for yearly check ups post surgery for achalasia? I am doing fine, but am always concerned that my e may not be as effeciently working as i think it is. NO real issues to speak of, just want to always stay on top of it. What should i have done regularly? I have an apt. with rosemurgy in march, but it sounds like he's just going to ask me questions and no swallowing tests. I thought i would have yearly swallowing tests. please let me know what is commonly done. thanks, group. > Christy >
Guest guest
My Dr did a barium swallow right after the surgery, 1 yr post-myotomy, and then suggests an endoscopy every 5 years. Does not recoment a manomerty since we know my condition, and does not want regular barium swallows because of the cumulative radiation. The post-surgery baruim swallow was to be sure there were no leaks, and the 1-yr barium swallow was to check that my E was not getting any more dialated (indicates the LES was relaxed enough). Of course he stressed this is the path as long as there is no return of symtoms, reflux, etc. If I ever see issues I'm to call him and act upon that data. > > > > ... sounds like he's just going to ask me questions and no swallowing > > tests.
