Guest guest
I'd google him.  He seems like he's just got a general surgery certification, and I've only found 2.5/5 reviews for him generally (albeit from a small number of people, but still).  I think you need to put in an appeal to your insurance and demand a specialist. kim in canada ________________________________ From: devinisvegan <devinaeh@...> achalasia Sent: Thursday, January 5, 2012 12:33 PM Subject: Re: Dr. at Ohio State  > > Does anyone know anything about this guy? Guest guest
I see that Dr. is a Thoracic surgeon as well. The training to be a Thoracic Surgeon is quite extensive. I would meet with him ask him how many HM he's done and what his approach to the surgery is and see how you feel.   From: devinisvegan <devinaeh@...> achalasia Sent: Thursday, January 5, 2012 8:33 AM Subject: Re: Dr. at Ohio State  > > Does anyone know anything about this guy? Guest guest
I don't know who your insurance company is, or what type of insurance you have, but I'm pretty sure they can't direct who you go to - specifically. They typically have an in network provider list - but that doesn't mean you can't go out of network. If you're having problems getting approval for the provider you want, contact your state insurance commissioner. They're advocates for consumers in situations like this. Be adamant until you reach him/her directly - or find out when they will be in the office and go there (assuming it's convenient). Make sure you let him know how urgent/dangerous the position you're in because of this difficulty with the insurance company. Might also help to let your insurance co. know you're going to file a complaint with the state. They don't like that - can create problems for them. Guest guest
Most insurance companies will allow you to go out of network but you pay a premium price. With my insurance I am out of network if it isn't in the state of Wisconsin ( If I understand my policy correctly ) and if I go out of network I have to pay my deductible than 40% of the bills. You should find out what other options your plan offers.  Good luck.  Kim A ________________________________ From: Leda Mae <leda444@...> " achalasia " <achalasia > Sent: Thursday, January 5, 2012 12:34 PM Subject: Re: Re: Dr. at Ohio State  I don't know who your insurance company is, or what type of insurance you have, but I'm pretty sure they can't direct who you go to - specifically.
