Guest guest
I'm glad, too, ! I've done pretty well since then...not perfect, but at least I'm exercising everyday. And seeing the scale move was infinitely helpful in regaining motivation. -Bonnie > > hold onto that control!! Guest guest
Sounds like you have a nutcase doc. But I am happy to hear your PCR is negative ! My update Hello GroupI had an appointment w/ my family doc a couple of wks ago, and he saidthat the liver biopsy that I had back in 1997 showed HepC then. Thiswas a complet shock to me!! At the time, all the doc's were telling mewas that there was an "abnormality" and sent me to some quack thatdidn't know anything, and never tried to find out ("I don't have theresults of the test, so I don't know").Also when I had my appointment w/ the hematologist back in April, heordered a PCR test. Just got word that this has come back neg. YEAH!!!No need to do anything further at this time. When speaking w/ my family doc, he had a bunch of info that no one hadbothered to tell me before. He is the one that told me the HepC waspositive 10yrs ago (even though no one told me), and that there was aPCR test run in 1999 that was negative then too.Jenn

Guest guest
Congrats on the wt loss this week !! And on the passing up coke!! I'm sure with diet changes and exercise, your dh's cholesterol will improve ;-) in WAStart the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape in the new year. Guest guest
>Well, I managed to lose 1.8 lbs. when I weighed in Monday morning. Not bad. Take it with a smile! >So I'm having to revamp some things when it comes to cooking since dh is a meat (mostly beef) and potatoes kind of guy. Plus, where I was buying some things just for me, I now need to buy for the whole family. I keep pushing this one vegetarian cookbook - Veganomicon. Great recipes, all meat- and dairy-free. Even if you just make one or 2 veggie dinners or even desserts a week it'll be a big help to the whole family. You can see other recipes by the same authors at their web site: http://www.theppk.com If you want to get even stricter, look at the web site & books of Dr. McDougall and read all about heart health and cholesterol: http://www.drmcdougall.com And Dr. Dean Ornish has a new book out called The Spectrum, which is *not* vegetarian but lists foods in a spectrum of 1 to 5, with 1 being the low fat vegan foods and 5 as things like butter and red meat. He advocates a healthy mix of foods. Dr. Ornish is a nutritional consultant to various companies and organizations and is responsible for Mc's addition of lighter, healthier fare in recent years. The book's official web site, not more than a home page with a few links right now, is http://ornishspectrum.com/ and this is the shortened link to its Amazon.com page: http://tinyurl.com/2xmxgb where you can get all the info you need. Oh, and cardio exercise is the best thing to get the bad cholesterol lowered and raise the good (HDL). Minimum 30 minutes sustained cardio a day, working up to an hour (sustained, not in short spurts) a day, is what many docs say. Good luck! Guest guest
ah Ling! I can't imgine how awful this must be for you!! and sad that your colleagues didn't help enough perhaps... and, once more, the docs are having trouble figuring out how to be helpful. I'm impressed that you still hope to be back at work so soon. best to you! Jean From: Bunbun & Ling Sent: Saturday, October 18, 2008 5:04 AM lingtan0206@... Subject: My Update Hi All, Thought just want to drop an update on myself on what had happened during the past eventful week... Last Tue and Thu, I blackouted twice in school, and my colleagues took a while to wake me up... On Thu, as I felt that I kind of fainted after immense pain again, I tried to contact my pain doc, who asked me to go to the hospital's emergency dept as his clinic was closed for the day, and he would meet me there. (Ah, the joy of having doc in private practice, but it cost me a bomb that day!) I received 3 jabs of morphine before the pain was in control. The doc saw that I was pretty dehydrated (from the med I had been taking) and put me on a drip while I was there, and sent me for a chest x-ray and some blood tests. All results came back normal except for a slightly lower lymphocyte level and I was tested positive for mycoplasma antibodies (1: 80 and above for confirmed infection, and my level was 1: 640 .) So I'm put on the antibiotic Klacid for 2 weeks. The doc also started me on a fentanyl (pain medicine) patch, which I have to leave pasted on my body and have to change the patch every 3 days. The med works in reducing a little of the pain, but I still feel horrid - cant sit upright for too long, or the giddy spells will come back again. For the past week I had fainted at home again 3 times. Will be seeing the pain doc on coming Monday. The doc had said that if I faint again, I may need to see a neurologist ( I hate to see one - had seen at least 7 already, and they can't help me!) Will see how it goes.... Right now, I am just hibernating at home since 10 Oct. Hope to be back at work next Wed... Ling Send instant messages to your online friends http://asia.messenger. Ling Send instant messages to your online friends http://asia. messenger.
