Guest guest
Surgery went well. I would have posted sooner but the meds made me extremely sleepy. I am on the soft mushy food for a few days then get to gradually add regular food. I'm surprised at how good I feel. This surgery went much easier on me than my gallbladder surgery. I would definitely recommend Dr. Roy Cobeane for anyone in Maine that needs to have this done. The staff at the Scarborough Surgery Center were awesome. The nurses and staff were so nice. The drive home wasn't too bad. I made sure to bring a pillow with me for the trip home and that did help. I even have pictures from the surgery. I was given a set of pictures to show what was done. I look forward to moving beyond the mushy food but will take it slow to prevent complications. Jenn I hope you are doing well also. Guest guest
I don't intend to push it too quickly. I am going to slowly add the food I had problems with in the past and see how it goes. I realize that there may be foods I will never eat again but I can live with that. I do have to remind myself to slow down and chew more thoroughly. S -- Re: I'm Back Welcome back. It's a great feeling when you get to the point where you can go out to dinner and not have anyone notice that you are not eating normally Mind you, menu choices and chewing food thoroughly, with an occasional sneak of swallowproof food to the side stay important for most of us, but it feels great to be able to live pretty much normally. Guest guest
Glad to hear things are well with you. I can't believe how good it feels to not have food stuck in my throat. I can't believe how good I feel. The pain is manageable. I haven't had the bad bout of spasms that I expected to have. S -- Re: I'm Back Glad to hear things went well !! Guest guest
The swallowing is much better. I had noticed regurg on the liquid diet pre surgery so it was a relief to feel liquid go all the way down. I am still taking it easy trying to stick with the mushy food for a few days to allow for healing. My surgeon told me I couldn't go home and eat a steak but to stick with foods that don't require much chewing. I plan on taking it slow and easy to make sure I give my body time to heal. Guest guest
I am doing great. It is amazing to actually feel food go down without sticking. I am now 11 days post HM and I feel terrific. The incisions are healing nicely. Just a little tenderness if I overexert. I am looking forward to hopefully going back to work next week. I wish the best for those about to have their HM. Guest guest
That is good. As you I am post HM. It has been 7 days now. I am down to only one time a day taking my pain medician. Food is easy to go down. I did have a small problem yesterday with dinner swallowing, but not for breakfast this morning. Take it easy and do not rush back to get back to work before you are ready. We all must take care of our selves.  Suzanne > Surgery went well.
