Guest guest
Yes Joy! Had it checked out by doc, she said its from reflux, alot of reflux makes the voicebox swollen. So that is the feeling of having a lump in my throat and hoarseness in my voice. You still might have it checked out though! , California
Guest guest
Hi , I went to 2 ENT's both said it was from reflux. This has been ongoing now for 3 months and doesn't feel much better. I'm a singer so it's very hard for me. Did ultrasound - they found a growth - blood seems to be ok - but still investigating. Eating and drinking seems to help for a bit but as soon as eating is over the feeling of constriction returns. So sad about this whole thing and I don't know what else to do. Thanks for hearing me out - Joy > > Yes Joy! Had it checked out by doc, she said its from reflux, alot of reflux makes the voicebox swollen. Thanks, Joy
Guest guest
YES! And it's caused by caffeine! :-( Went to the doctor and got the prescription for Prilosec. Never actually used it yet, though. I just cut out caffeine (chocolate, coffee) and the lump/hoarsness/paralyzed feeling went away. It's back today because I haven't had sleep and drank a cup of coffee this morning. Even decaf causes it. Even caffeine free pepsi causes it. If there's a trace of caffeine, the nerves in the back of my throat stop working, I have trouble swallowing, I get hoarse, I have trouble speaking with slurred speech and difficulty saying ing or k. The effect is immediate, within two minutes, and lasts about a day. I don't feel/taste any reflux. > > Hi, > > Does anyone have a lump in their throat and hoarseness? > > Thanks, > Joy >
Guest guest
I have trouble with caffeine too. I used to drink a lot of coffee but now I do about a cup a day. SOme days I can get a full cup down with no issues and others, like today, I start regurgitating right away! I mostly drink 7up instead of Pepsi, which I sadly miss!  Kim A Wi ________________________________ From: pletchsr <pletchsr@...> achalasia Sent: Tuesday, March 20, 2012 1:39 PM Subject: Re: Lump in the Throat and Hoarseness  YES!
