Guest guest
Hi to Jenn and . I am autistic and have chronic fatigue syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome. My doctor says I have an autoimmune disease but he is not sure exactly what is causing this so he writes down CFS. I also have thoracic outlet syndrome and " early warning signs of carpal tunnel " (whatever that means). These are caused by typing 200+ words per minute and spending too much time on the computer but it improves if I take breaks or spend some days offline. Chopping vegetables hurts though. I also have 16 pet budgerigars (parakeets) and am hoping to start breeding them soon. 12 of them are really pets and are very spoiled and tame and the other 4 are English Budgies (big pretty exhibition budgies) and they are too old to tame but they will make beautiful babies. I was lucky to find when I went up to collect my latest cute baby pet budgie that the breeder is selling everything up and quitting so that is how I ended up with the adult ones. I am going to join a bird club soon so that I will be able to go to shows and get club rings to put on my babies. CZ
Guest guest
And now I reply to myself. I also have OCD which I forgot to add to the list. I am doing Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for that with a psychologist at my university campus and it is helping some. One of the things I am doing is not checking emails and addresses over and over and that is why I missed something. Guest guest
Hi there are welcome to the group............I have 3 children, my middle one Hannah who is now 8 is high-functioning Autistic, and we have known since about 3/4 that something was not quite right, but lived in denial, until she started school, then decided to get her formally diagnosed. She will have her good days, where we think, " this isn;t too bad " , then all of a sudden she will have " a day " , where she sees things that are completely different to us, and won;t be able to explain how or what she is feeling. She has an aide teacher at school for 2 hours a day which is a God-send, without this woman, Hannah would not be able to cope, and would find it hard to learn anything. it is great to see you are doing all you can for your child, and i am sure you will read some interesting stories here. Guest guest
Hi Robin - I am in Racine, Wisconsin - not that far from you at all. Just about a 60 minute ride from my house to O'hara Airport! What a small world it is - with the help of the internet! Now about a program you can afford - I am using the Foodmover and am finding that it works well. I can eat anything I want to eat - the key is to control the portions, which means I use my measuring cups, measuring spoons and a food scale (Wal-Mart for about $6). You can buy the current gold version of the Foodmover at Wal-greens and Target for about $10 (I believe). Sam's Club also carries a set that has some tapes with it and I think that was about ($22 or $29 - don't remember exactly). There is a new version on an informercial out on tv right now which is $40. I have been using the program since May 2002 and have been successful. I will tell you that I got off program in November and am still working hard at getting back to it. But the program does work. We all are here for one another and the support, encouragement and motivation we get from each other here makes a world of difference. Hope to hear from you again soon! Guest guest
Robin Welcome. I am also on a budget and do not have time to do WW or FAD FAD diets. When I restart a diet (alot lately) I make a list of BETTER choices and buy a couple every week. Example spray butter, fat free mayo, low fat cheese, reduced fat Peanut Butter, egg beaters, and even some diet meals when they go on sale. Stocking your fridge with fruits and veggies are hard do to prices now adays. I just buy a couple each week. Mandatory is a head of lettuce and/OR cucumber and tomatoe. Bacos and a nice change to salads OR raisins. THREE key things is Portions, WATER, and exercise. WATER is free. Cut down on your portions what you feed the family. Do you have any form of exercise? Guest guest
Welcome Robin! Only you can decide what kind of diet you can stick with, but there are lot of options just in the plans being used by the people here. Many are using the FoodMover with it's exchange plan. You don't need the FoodMover itself to follow this plan, you can do the tracking on a piece of paper. Anyone here would be glad to share the information with you that you need. I'm NOT using the FoodMover this time around, but tracking my calories and other nutrients to try to learn what " normal " eating is like. Sometimes it seems that the " healthy " food costs more than junk food but, calorie for calorie it's actually much cheaper! Tell us a bit more about your lifestyle, likes and dislikes and maybe we can help! Sue " I did the thing I feared the most -- excuse me while I cheer. I checked a few weeks ago and it was only 10 calories less than regular per serving and it is so much more expensive than the store brand stuff I get for the kids.
