Guest guest
For what it's worth, 5mg of Paxil a day (which is only 25% of the typical lowest dose prescribed for depression) keeps my NCCPs away. I've tried discontinuing the medication on several different occasions, but the pains always came back. (And sometimes I've simply forgotten to take my meds at night for a couple days in a row -- not even meaning to / realizing it -- and the pains threatened, so it's not simply a mental thing that I plan on going off the meds and the pains come back, it happens even when I don't intentionally go off the meds). Paxil doesn't work for everyone, but the people who have had luck with it have had AMAZING results with it. Definitely worth trying, particularly since (in the USA) your doc can write the prescription for 20mg/day for 90 days, then you use a pill splitter to cut them into 5mg segments, and you get a year's worth for ten bucks from the Sam's Club or Walmart pharmacy. Guest guest
Just a BIIIIG warning for anyone trying anti-depressants: If/when you decide to stop taking them, do NOT go cold turkey (unless the drug is made for it). I tried a very low dose of Paxil for spasms and it had no effect, so I stopped taking it (at my Dr's recommendation). I thought I was going crazy until I realized that I was going through some sort of withdrawal. My emotions were ALL OVER the place and I have never felt so suicidal in my life. When the lightbulb went on, I did some research, realized I was not going crazy, went back on them, and slowly weaned myself off properly.
