Guest guest
Yes it does. I lost weight until about 3 weeks post op. Then food started tasting right and my desire to eat increased. Guest guest
Today is post op day 3 for me. I am sure our appitite will improve. I have been over weight all my life and tried several diets. When you get in a habit of eatting smaller porstions for more that 30 days your stomach shrinks and you get in the habit of eatting less. Plus with the wrap you stomach should be smaller. Which makes you feel fuller sooner. After being on diets before achalasia it took me a few weeks having an appitite. Guest guest
I didn't experience a loss of appetite. Did you experience this before your surgery also? Guest guest
I used to be starved and not much would go down. I figure it's just all cranky in there still. Guest guest
Jenn, my " diets " from 12 to 20 years old were two week water fasts (recommended and encouraged by a beloved and very wrong headed Auntie, but that's another story). By the age of twenty, I could no longer tell when I was hungry. It just didn't register as hunger. I found myself taking antacids because " my tummy hurt " -- I think something similar happens with the shut down of the LES. .. . . I was starving in *actual fact* -- but I *wasn't* hungry. I lived in China for four years and talked with famine survivors: they say the same: you are just not hungry. May be the body's way of protecting you against the knowledge that it thinks you're going to die? I still have to check with my head when my tummy aches: how long since I last ate? Could this be hunger pangs rather than too much acid? What happened to me, post Heller, was eventually I began to *trust* that what went into the mouth WOULD go down. That makes it possible to think about actually enjoying eating again, lol! Be of good cheer -- it'll work out! xox > > Today is post op day 11. I have no appetite.
