Guest guest
Google what GI doctors in your area deal with Achalasia. Make an appointment with them. If you insurance has you needing a referal, then insist with you general Dr to give you one. It's your husband's body not the doctors.  Suzanne From: milwaukeemommy <milwaukeemommy@...> Subject: Good news/ not good news achalasia Date: Monday, May 21, 2012, 10:09 PM  Good news -- my husband finally went to the doctor! Bad news -- it wasn't the GI, just his general dr & he didn't even do anything My husband had a horrible asthma attack last week Monday. He ran out of Primatene. I've only been warning him for 2 years that they were going to stop making it. He called his general dr, told him his Asthma story -- dr said he'd write a rx that day but that he MUST come in for a check up. GREAT!!! Finally!!!! Some xrays --- scans -- he'll hear his horrible cough --- something will be done!!! So when I called my husband the day after, I said " so what did he all do?? " He said he prescribed a new inhaler, some Prednisone (infection in his lungs?? from the asthma?? that part wasn't quite clear) & he doubled his dose of Protonix. Now, I have NO IDEA if my husband told him how much he's been throwing up. I would think this was his chance to say something.... to get a referral to a new GI .... one that might help him ....or at least call him back. Nope. Not even blood work (remember I said his blood tests from work came back showing diabetic, hypertension, AND high cholesterol). So here I was SO excited that he was going to see a dr ...... & really nothing new. Oh wait, there is something new. Since he's been taking the Prednisone he can't sleep, he's jittery & he's forgetful. Spacy, he said. And he's a welder. Sigh.... Husband dx with Achalasia 7/08, HM 11/08, endoscopy because " something doesn't look good " 4/09, never called for results, never been back to GI
Guest guest
The thing is, is he HAS a GI --- he chooses not to go see him. I don't know if he's a GOOD GI, since he's not well known & I didn't know to research him beforehand -- my husband claims he's been trying to call him & he won't call back -- I find that hard to believe. And I think any GI is capable of at least doing a scope, which he really REALLY needs. > > > From: milwaukeemommy <milwaukeemommy@...> > Subject: Good news/ not good news > achalasia > Date: Monday, May 21, 2012, 10:09 PM > > > > Â > > > > Good news -- my husband finally went to the doctor! > > Bad news -- it wasn't the GI, just his general dr & he didn't even do anything > > My husband had a horrible asthma attack last week Monday.
