So, so sorry to hear about your experience. Very glad that nothing more serious

happened and that the surgeons can carefully consider a Plan B.

on the way to the hospital after my 3 days of clear liquids and ready to get my

second HM completed. Many of you may remember that when I had seen the doctor in

February, I was told that very little was making it into my stomach without

forcing it through, and that my esophagus had expanded almost as large as my

stomach. So, while on my clear liquid diet, I tried drinking a lot of water,

etc., that would flush out my esophagus and keep me hydrated for surgery. We got

to the hospital and everything went just swimmingly. I got in on time, got into

the OR on time, got all situated on the table, all drugged up, relaxed, and the

last thing I remember was the anesthesiologist placing the mask over my face.

Then all hell broke loose. The way it has been explained to me, I instantly

vomited food that I had to have eaten pre-clear liquids from the doctors'

description and they flipped me over to suction out the vomit. The problem was

that as I vomited it out of my esophagus, I sucked all of it into my right lung,

completely filling the lung with acids and fluids from the esophagus. I'm a big

guy, and I was told they had to have 4 guys wrestle me down so they could get me

intibated then I had to be put on a ventilator as I had stopped breathing. The

good part of this story is that I was awoken the next morning at 11:00 (25 hours

after the surgery was scheduled) andthe ventilator was removed. I was told

people are usually kept on a ventilator for 5-6 days, but the doctors said my

lings were clearing better than they could have hoped. I also have had asthma my

whole life, so that complicates things, but I was finally released from the

hospital today. So, the surgery did not happen, and I will be meeting with the

surgeon in 3 weeks to determine a new course of action. They have gone so far as

to suggest being put under while in a seated position to performing the surgery

with me awake, and I would be happy to do whatever it takes! Thank you all for

your prayers and encouragement. Take this as a warning to not wait too long

before getting help when you can! from WI

I am so sorry you had to go through that.  I will pray that the doctor will be

able to find something that will make everything better.

, this is just awful!! My heart goes out to you, having a second HM is

hard to deal with enough, then to have to deal with all

all these serious complications. I hope all goes well for your meeting with the

surgeon. Stay positive! And please keep us informed!
