Guest guest
Hi there: My name is (but my friends call me GEO) and I have been diagnosed with Achalasia and am scheduled for surgery April 11. I live in Edmonton Alberta and honestly I have mixed emotions on this process. I am 56 years old and have had this for many years but when I mentioned it to my family Dr. he basically said having a problem swallowing is not an huge concern as a lot of people have that but it got worse and I told him to send me to someone that knows what the hell they are talking about and find out what is going on as I was starting to throw up more reguarly which is very embarrasing to say the least and you get tired of chocking done your meal with glasses of water. I have lost 30 lbs in the last 6 months and would think after my surgery I will shed a few more but at least it will be done with. I am already taking prevacid and have for years. How is the acid reflux after the surgery as well as heartburn I guess is one of my questions? I had testicular cancer surgery 2 years ago and I joined a site like this and was really helpful. I appreciate any feedback, suggestions and advise as I go forward with this thing. What better to learn from then those who have gone through this already. Many thanks....GEO
