Guest guest
Hi! Sorry it's been a while since my last post on finding an expert surgeon. I had to put off my surgery until after my daughter's wedding shower, but Dr. says that I cannot wait until after the wedding (June 8th) to have it done. So, I go in tomorrow at 6:45 at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, LA. I live in Houma - about 1 hour's drive south from New Orleans. I know every story is different, but I would appreciate some feedback from anyone that has been through the HM. I have some specific questions that I should have asked a long time ago, but wedding stuff has got my attention. My questions are: 1) How long does a laperascopic HM with fundoplication surgery usually take to perform? 2) I know it's kinda too late, but how can I find out the success rate of my surgeon? 3)How bad is the throat pain after surgery - I have an hour to ride in the car the next day - ugh! 4) What kind of liquids/soft foods were you able to eat - any suggestions? 5) When was the soonest you felt comfortable enough to get up and around? I am 48 years old and have had many surgeries with no worries. I am quite nervous about this one because of where it is located - in the esophagus. I will try to look up some past postings on these questions, but if you have time to give me your advice, I would appreciate it very much...... in South Louisiana.
