Guest guest
I was listening to talk radio while driving yesterday and on one of my favorite health programs they had on Dr. Carolyn Dean, author of MAGNESIUM MIRACLE. I had read this book a few years ago because I had heard that my leg cramps that I suffered with for many years might be due to a magnesium deficiency. In the book Dr. Dean had recommended 1000 mg of magnesium per day, and had also recommended a good source of absorbable magnesium was from a company called Jigsaw. http://www.jigsawhealth.com/ Indeed it was like a miracle. After a short period of time, I no longer had any leg cramps, and I have not had any since starting on this regimen. (A few years now) OK, back to yesterday. I was listening to Dr. Dean on the radio and she mentioned that swallowing problems CAN BE related to magnesium deficiency. She also mentioned that even the people who think they are taking enough are not. That the soil etc does not contain enough magnesium for our food supply to get anywhere near the amount of magnesium we need. I was thinking about it, and I realized that my swallowing problems have not been nearly as bad as before I started taking the magnesium a few years ago. I used to all the time need to regurgitate dry meats and apples, and it is more rare now that this happens. It may be just a coincidence - but i think there is something to this Now I do realize that Magnesium has been discussed in this group many times before. But when I did a search of the messages, it seems the amount people are taking might be too low. I am not suggesting this is indeed the 'miracle cure', but I did want to mention what I had heard, and pass along the web site for Dr. Dean in case any of you may wish to contact her. http://drcarolyndean.com/ Perhaps if this helps just one person my posting will have been worth it! Guest guest
Since I can't swallow pills, I use CALM, by Natural Vitality. It's easily absorbed-ionic magnesium citrate. I let it sit for about 10 minutes so the fizz runs out. It is easier to swallow as a liquid. Seems like it would take 4 pills for 500 mg. It also goes into great detail about the biochemical processes that are involved in various magnesium-dependent reactions in the body. While this is important data, it may be overkill for the average reader. In my opinion, this book would be better suited to health professionals or those with scientific backgrounds who need and/or want more detailed information. > > " The Magnesium Miracle " by Carolyn Dean provides the pertinent research and biochemical information in a concise and easily readable format that would likely be more accessible to the layperson.
