Guest guest
You really think that you have to have a HS diploma or a GED to get into college? Granted yes that is ONE way to get into college but not the only way. Ask any unschooler that is in college, who got in without transcripts, HS diploma or GED. We just had a party for a 16 year old local unschooler who just got early acceptance to Princeton based only on a face to face interview with her and her SAT scores(by the way she got a full ride academic scholarship from them also only based on her interview and SAT scores.) The school system has brainwashed the population into thinking that a HS diploma or a GED is the only way to get to college. Dont be fooled they just dont want people to know that their way isnt the only way into higher learning. In a message dated 1/29/2007 1:40:41 P.M. Guest guest
I also wondered about healthcare workers having to be vaxed. I have a friend who just got a bunch of shots to enter nursing school, sadly she didn't even bother to ask about them, like what were they injecting into her. ( I have tried to inform her but she has a deaf ear to it all.) Anyways, I asked her if she had the option not to and she assumed it was mandatory. So can you be exempted if you want to work in healthcare? Same goes for being a teacher? My cousin had 'mandatory' shots to work in a school district. Could she of opted out, or does it depend on the state laws? - Beth > > Ok, so I'm new to the group, and have no idea if my intro got posted or > not with having problems all weekend long, so I'll ask this again. > > If you don't vax a child, and she/he get to college, I was told that > she/he may not be able to go to college -- is this true? > > Or say, she/he(heavan forbid) want to become a doctor, then what? > Can you work as a healthcare professional w/o vax and just say you have > religious/philosophical objections? > > I'm newbie to the whole concept, so I apologize for advanced if this is > a dumb questions. Guest guest
Just to clarify, I am wondering if anyone has experience with college aged kids: what did they do in terms of vaccinations? Can a college refuse to admit you if you don't have the vaxes? I am asking this becuase I was naive, and I asked my ped when my DS got his first set of shots if he could go to school w/o them, and she said point blank no(needless to say a good lie on her part). I am just curious how it would effect him down the road....anyone with experience with an older child who was not vaxed? > > > > No, i mean anyone LOL. Guest guest
My dd is going to college in the fall of 2008. I've emailed several colleges that she has in mind, and none of them require vaccines. Of course they RECOMMEND them, but none are required for admission. I'd say if your son has an idea where he wants to apply, to call or email the college and ask them what their policy is on vaccines for admission to the school. Guest guest
I finished college in 1997 and had no issues the whole time I was there. These days they like to push a lot of vaccines on the kids like meningitis, proof of mmr booster, and probably the pertussis vaccine soon. Most colleges will allow an exemption if their state laws allow them, but they do not advertise it.A few actually have exemption letters you can sign just like any other public school might have.Just have to stand your ground. In the end it is their loss of money if they refuse the exemption. On the other hand they can be silly about holding a student out of class during an outbreak of a VPD,but the student needs to make sure they work with him/her to provide the material needed during forced exclusion to pass the class. mom2aidy <mom2aidy@...> wrote: Just to clarify, I am wondering if anyone has experience with college aged kids: what did they do in terms of vaccinations? Guest guest
Not to sound rude, but what type of reputable institution could you go to without a diploma or ged? Was it community college? I know that if you take so many credits at a community college, then any major universities will not require your high school records for admission, but when I tried to apply to the major university before going to community college, they required a proof of graduation and my high school records. ---- wright <melissa-wright@...> wrote: > I agree, it's not that hard to take college classes without diploma or ged. > My brother took college classes without either..as long as you pay for the > classes that's all they care about! Guest guest
Yeah, I am looking at graduate schools right now and the mindset has always been that you can " blow off " your last semester of senior year, as long as you still graduate and get in. I have since found out that quite a few of the " more reputable " universities (which are the ones that I am applying to) are requesting those transcripts before you begin. I am not sure if they are doing the same thing with high school seniors or not. Sara ---- Totten <afaltotten@...> wrote: > Really? Guest guest
Yeah, the community colleges out here have special programs for high school students. ---- Anita Durney <mydurney@...> wrote: > I entered community college during my junior year of high school. Guest guest
Yes i am sure you are right. People in general are uninformed and dont take the time to find out the truth and just go along with it " because this is what we have been spoon fed by the government and school system to believe. " It is the same with vaccines i bet you could go ask 50 people if vaccines are life savers and i bet most if not all would be quick to say " Yes we need vaccines because of XYZ (which is actually XYZ because my doc filled my head with lies) " LOL In a message dated 1/29/2007 9:10:52 P.M. In fact, I WILL ask 50 people; I work part-time at Starbucks and will spend the entire evening Thursday asking people this question just so I can find out if everyone else is as idiotic as apparently I am. ~Alyssa in IL _http://squishymommy.blogspot.com_ (http://squishymommy.blogspot.com/) " Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt, and dance like you do when nobody's watching.
