Guest guest
Hi Shari, I just wanted to say " welcome " and I know what you're going through. It is tough to read about the possible diagnoses, and even scarier to think that after a lot of testing, the doctors still may not know for sure what is going on with our kids. My son Sam just turned two also (11/7) and he has been fevering regularly since 9-12 months. Until August of this year we heard the same message repeatedly - " your son just gets sick a lot. " Not knowing that I should watch the calendar and record his fevers to the day, we were quick to pin the fevers to some other event such as Sam being around a sick child, one of us being sick, plane travel, etc. And so we believed for quite a while that indeed, Sam was prone to picking up anything and everything. I am thankful, however, that he was referred at a relatively young age to an ID specialist who is investigating PFS. As you will read here, some parents and kids have to suffer a long time without an answer, only to have a possible diagnosis after years of fevers and demanding that the doctors dig deeper. So even with the fear of the unknown, I am counting my blessings that we are now on the road to a diagnosis, and we can deal with that better than not knowing...we can make every " fever free " day as special as possible...and we can better plan around the expected episodes so that Sam doesn't have to miss out on special events if we can help it. We will be trying prednisone on the first and second days of his next fever (expected on or about 11/20) - while we have a lot of questions about steroid use, we are learning more every day with access to this group and the documentation available here, and we trust that this is the right step. I wish the best for Abigail... > > Hi, my name is Shari Mc and I am here in reguards to my daughter Abigail. Abigail just turned 2 on 11/9. Her first fever came in July of this year reaching over 104. I took her to the doctor only to leave with thinking she just had a virus. The fever lasted 3 days and then returned the same time in August and September. The October fever came on the 3rd of the month, being two weeks early all being over 104 and lasting 3 days. Blood work was done and white blood cells were in normal range. This past Saturday 11/11 Abby developed a fever and now many of my friends ae concerned and are researching the internet. I was directed to your sight and although I hate the fact I might find out things I really don't want to know, I am not alone. Thank you for letting me be a part of your family! > > --------------------------------- > Sponsored Link > > $200,000 mortgage for $660/mo - 30/15 yr fixed, reduce debt, home equity - Click now for info > >
