Guest guest
We're so excited -- we've planned our first real trip ever with . She was always in isolation and couldn't go anywhere, but now we're taking her to San Diego. Seaworld, the San Diego Zoo, Legoland, the works. My question is... how have you traveled with your kids? I've heard the words " travel insurance " and wondered what it's about. It would be $100 for each of the three of us to change our airline tickets, and what if she (odds are supremely high!) gets sick right before we're supposed to go? Is there some way to make sure we don't lose a ton of money on flights and hotel, etc.? I surfed the net for a bit looking in vain, but thought I'd do better consulting the " experts " here before wasting any more time. Thanks - (mom to , age 2-1/2, polysaccharide antibody def, IgA def)
Guest guest
Hi , On the few occasions that I have traveled with my son, I have asked the Ped for medication just in case. He knows me well enough to know that I will only use them if necessary. I didn't want to be far away from home, with a doc who doesn't know about my son--or worse yet, thinks I am just being hysterical. Just an idea for you. Also, I have always visited the Peds office right before we leave, just in case he spots something that could be a problem. Sandi, Mom to , age 8 suspected IgA def., chronic sinusitis, ear infections, severe allergies. 9 surgeries.
Guest guest
Our pediatrician won't let us travel anywhere with Kody if he isn't on an antibiotic while we are gone. I also make an appointment wiht our doctor the day before we are scheduled to leave, just so that he can see Kody one last time before we go. Also, our ped. gave us a protocol to follow while gone. If Kody gets sick, I call him first, then because by this time he knows that I know it is a sinus infection, ear infection, etc, and he will call in either a change of prescription for me, or direct me to a local emergency room, where he will call to give Kody's history before we get there and then he can be talking to the doctors in the ER to guide them in treating Kody. I am not sure about the extra insurance. I never paid for it, figured my health insurance is good away from home, but I think maybe flying if it guaranteed your reimbursement or rescheduling of tickets in case of cancellation it may be worth it. Diane, Mom to Kody, IgG subclass def. 2 & 3, Di Syndrome (?), seizure disorder, asthma, GERD, acute sinus disease. Osteomylitis 2/2000, 4 sets ear tubes, port placement 1/2001, tonsils and adenoids 5/2001, IVIG since 6/2000.
Guest guest
Hi , My husbands family now lives in San Diego. We went last year and stayed at the Pacific Palisades Resort for 2 nights and listened to a sales pitch we got tickets into Legoland and some meal discounts and lodging for the four of us. I believe it was. $139.00. It was a great deal you do have to be strong not to purchase because it is very tempting. The resort is directly across the street from legoland and we walked over. The tickets alone into legoland are about $45 each so it was well worth the deal. Also go early in the morning we went at about 11 and we did not have time to play and build at the end . It is absolutely wonderful. The best we have ever done. Let me know if you are interested. Great Pool also. BARBIE

Guest guest
Hi , Â I did not check out the links yet that generously provided. I've done some traveling in my time and several times obtained travel insurance (mostly for reasons different than yours). Speaking only from the top of my head, travel insurance, especially the ones you can check out online, cover a whole range of things. I have never seen it where they have mentioned specific disorders (too broad). I have never heard of it covering specific disorders, but generally covers medical expenses should you get sick overseas. Besides what provided, you can do a Google search for travel insurance companies and read what they cover. On a separate, but related issue, hopefully you will continue to recover and gain more confidence as time goes by. You will then be able to travel with more confidence, without the fear of needing to have an emergency dilatation. btw, how have you been doing with the 4:40am spasms lately? Guest guest
I had the early morning spasms for a few days straight, but haven't had any the last 4 nights. Considering I went to my SIL's Mothers funeral yesterday I think I did well not to get too stressed. I am waiting only 2 or 2 1/2 hours after my final cup of tea in the evening and haven't noticed anything different, which is good. About travel insurance, my brother who has Crohns and was in hospital last November after a flair up, can't get travel insurance to cover his condition for 12 months after a hospital stay. That got me curious and I started looking into it. We would like to go on a overseas trip somewhere before our boys get too old and won't want to go with us anymore. We are waiting for my recovery and energy levels to increase to do it. As far as my first dilation, I have been able to eat little bits of pizza, chicken, turkey, pasta, but I have to swallow in rice size pieces and use lots of water, so I don't know if the dilation is holding. I thought I could swallow some stuff much better in the first few days. I haven't said anything to my husband or family yet because they are probably getting sick of my talking about my eating. So I am waiting to see what happens before I mention it. > > Hi , > Â > I did not check out the links yet that generously provided. > I've done some traveling in my time and several times obtained travel insurance (mostly for reasons different than yours). > Speaking only from the top of my head, travel insurance, especially the ones you can check out online, cover a whole range of things.
