Guest guest
Hi, I just wanted to ask if it is difficult for achalasians to sleep on their left side, because it is difficult with me, and I tend to choke as liquids come up, and being on the same side is tiring. Guest guest
I have always had to sleep on the right side. On the left side I would have nausea, pressure and major regurging. Now that my LES is clamped pretty much shut I can lay however I want and with fewer pillows as long as there is nothing in my E. Guest guest
This question came up briefly a number of years ago, and had to do with the curvature of the esophagus at the point at which sleeping body might be positioned with food in the esophagus, and how gravity plays a part. As Jenn in Canada pointed out that in her case, sleeping on the right side was better. If one has trouble sleeping on their side, due to regurging, they should try sleeping on the other side. While sleepping on wedges have been recommended for years, getting to the core of the problem by clearing the esophagus before going to sleep, might be better in the long run since it attempts to eliminates the cause of the esophagus getting stretched out of place due to food sitting there over extended periods of time.  ________________________________ From: " adoptivemommy@...
