Guest guest
There is hope that they may lessen over time. I am one month post hm and my spasms have almost completely gone away. I have a prescription for hyomax in case one does strike. S -- Update: from Louisiana...first post op message Hi! I made it through the Heller's and the fundoplication quite well, that was about 9 days ago. Thanks for all your encouragement! It WAS worth it. I am amazed at how little pain there was after the surgery! I am a big chicken when it comes to pain and I stopped taking the pain meds by midnight of the same day. I am faithfully following the gradual liquid to soft food diet. I was going to ask if any of you STILL experience the spasms in the esophagus *after* the surgery, but on the recent posts (and some archive messages) I have just read I see that most of you do. I guess it is something I have to live with and that's ok because if I take a Gas-X strip *or* the Levsin under the tongue that was prescibed - the pain goes away within a few minutes. I just thought that those pains would be gone. I mostly experience it around 3 a.m.....so it wakes me up big time! I go to my post op appointment on Thursday - May 17th. I'll ask the Dr. about that and maybe look up more of the archives of this group. Again, thanks for all of your encouragement and sharing your experiences about the surgery for achalasia.....I will definitely keep up with this group!.. .. from Louisiana
Guest guest
Congrats - glad to hear you are doing so well. I guess when it comes to treatment we have to weigh the good with the bad. If I could eat better, more normal solid food I could tolerate the spasms better. I generally get mine in the middle of the night as well but last week when I was on a conference call one hit and I didn't ahve a bottle of water at my desk. I panicked!! Usually drinking water will help for me or Nifedepine!  Let us know how your progress goes!  Kim Wi ________________________________ From: lesleco <lesleco@...> achalasia Sent: Saturday, May 12, 2012 9:54 PM Subject: Update: from Louisiana...first post op message  Hi!
