Guest guest
Welcome to " Locks R US " group! My son is now 17 and rarely runs away - although he takes social saunters out an unlocked door now and again. And I still panic because he is not street safe. But it has been almost 5 years since I have had a full policeforce search out for him - only to have him come back on his own just as it was getting dark out and the cops were starting a door to door search! SO>>>>>>my suggestions are as follows: Get a lock cover for the car seat belt. There are a few on the market - Safety First has one that is like the locking cap on a medicine bottle. There are a few others. And I had one on the seatbelt for the school bus as well. We also took the handles off the backseat of our car so windows could not be opened from the inside and used the child locks to keep the doors locked. We have locks on our doors but more important is the magnetic alarms we installed on all outside doors. They have 110 decibal alarm if the door is opened by our son. And it is a pain with other kids, but it is safer. We also set a motion detector at night so if Elie wanders downstairs the alarm goes off. We also have cow bells, camel bells, navy bells on every door so if they are opened I will know it. We installed a 4 foot high gate at the top of our stairs closed with heavy velcro which has a different distinctive bell to give me a heads up if he heads down stairs. I figure overkill is better then one dead child. And I instantly know which door has been entered and usually by which person by how much noise the bells make! Some have a delay mechanism on them. Radio shack has a good selection of magnetic alarm locks. We put snaffle bit locks on our gates for our fenced yard. Elie doesn't have the thumb strength to open those and we are not teaching him that skill. Otherwise, combination locks work. No thief with any sense would try to get in here. Happy alarms to you. Guest guest
>Hi . I also have an 11 year old daughter, Kelsey, and Ty who's 9 and is 7 with DS. I suspected autism a few years ago, but after much research have found her to have other things. She's doing great now so if you want to hear more about that, let me know. About the seat belt....... never got out. But she did wander ALOT!!! We also have locks up high on all the doors and locks on the gates. But now at 7, she is so much better. For her, she didn't have to wait until 12, Thank God! I don't think she was ever running away either, I think she always had someplace in mind that she was going to. She just didn't bother to tell anyone where that was! She's so much better now! Just today she got her helmet and came outside to find me and said that she wanted to ride her horse. A year ago, if she'd have been able to get outside by herself, I'd have found her in the corral with the horses by herself. Good luck with everything and welcome to the group. Welcome to the group. We use the gorilla car seat for Maddie (9, DS and autism). I got it out of a special needs catalog and it was very very expensive, but I got funding for it through our FDSS $$. It has two shoulder locks that buckle down between the legs and one that goes across the chest. It goes up to 120 pounds. Before that, she ALWAYS used to get out of car seats. It's funny, but recently we didn't have the seat and we buckled her in the back in a regular seat belt, and she sat perfectly the whole ride..we were shocked!! As far as running away, we put up a fence around our house (useless) and keep all doors locked (WITH a key). I also put those child-proof knobs on our handles where you have to push two buttons down to open the door (most adults that visit us can't figure it out...LOL) I put up signs at the doors saying *LOCK DOOR* and our four other kids are very diligent about locking behind them (they know the terror of losing Maddie well). Also, all of our neighbors know that if they ever see Maddie outside without one of us to immediately pick her up and bring her home (one has done this for us). << I have told our family and friends that they need not worry about buying Garrett anymore vtech toys. Their good intentions are somehow wasted when he just pushes the same button " Dog " , 20 million times a day.>> Traci, I just tell everyone to get Maddie a ball type gift. Why waste money on anything else when balls are all she wants (or bubbles). Often they buy her something that looks very *danglable*....LOL <<Oh, and also it is imperative to have the movie Shrek "  playing on the tv at all times. >> Yep, Barney and ONLY Barney here. Although she is starting to watch Shrek. <<His eyelash count is swiftly dwindling, since he pulls them when he is bored or nervous, and the skin on the tips of his fingers is totally gone because he bites it off for the same reasons as he pulls his eyelashes out.>> Maddie doesn't do that kind of thing, but does have pica, so we have to hide soap and candles, her obsessions. She also climbs like crazy, even people!! We've had to build a plexi-glass/wood contraption in our hall stairwell to keep her from diving over (everybody on the list already knows my roof-walking and rail climbing stories) We recently started Maddie on meds (risperdal) for behaviors, but it hasn't effected the pica. However, we are noticing a much more lucid kid and she is communicating better than ever (she is non-verbal). I hope you find some answers to these behaviors......either way, welcome again!!!! You're gonna like it here..;-) Donna
Guest guest
Adele, both my sons have allergies. My youngest who's four, had an allergic reaction to the prevnar vaccine. You do not have to see a reaction to a vaccine. They can still cause damage. There is a list on called . Many of the parents on this list haven't seen vaccine reactions in their children. The preservative thimerosal (mercury) is causing neurological problems. This is why the recommendation to take it out was made. Our mainstream medical professionals will test for mercury through blood. The only problem with this is, it will only show up for a recent exposure, as in days. Mercury will go into organs, and can cross the Blood Brain Barrier. Many parents are chelating their children to get the mercury out. I know of two other Moms on this list that have a lot of knowledge on this issue , and a. If you are interested in the recent studies on this, let me know, and I or others on the list will post them. I started this journey after my son's reaction three years ago. I am learning something new everyday. Just take it slow, and if there is something you don't understand, just ask! Hope I helped somewhat. PA > Thanks for your relply. This problem I am having is that I do not believe my son had any reaction at all to vaccines at the time they were given. He never got as much as a local reaction or fever. I always stayed up the night watching him as I was concerned about this and he never had a reaction. Does he have to have a reaction such as crying, local skin reaction, fever, to have been effected. I am so confused and I feel my head is full of stuff and I have to sit back and sort all of this out. I still do not understand what I am reading and I need to take some time to really read through and understand what is going on. Thanks > Adele
Guest guest
Same here with me, Adele! Probably a case of Info over load plus a heavy work load at the same time! But did have a fever after the hep B jebs, and even DTP (Polio, Titanius and D..something!). She's been vaccine free since 6 mths. I'm delaying other jabs for as long as possible till I get all these figured out. As parents, we can only so do much to protect our little ones. Guest guest
Hi Randy, I am from Wisconsin and had my surgery on May 14th. I really didn't need a support person while in the hospital. (My husband got a bit bored watching me sleep) But when I moved to the hotel I really needed my mom, who took over as caretaker. I was also really glad she was there for the flight home. I was also alone the week before the surgery (required for out-of-staters). I hope this helps. If you have any other question about being an out-of-stater - please ask. There are a plethera of us out here that feel the same way you do. We all have " failed " many diets and cannot believe that this is really going to work for us. But believe it. This will work for you. 30 lbs in one month is huge! That is a lot! That is 30 lbs that you will never see again! Never! Believe it. Dr K also told me that when we morbidly obese diet, we dont fail, but our bodies fail us. Our metabolism is out of whack and we store way to much and burn way to little, and of course our diets are doomed to fail. We tho- are not failures. We kept trying till we found the answer, and we used it. We are successes! Yea! So dont get down, and dont compare yourself with others. Guest guest
Hi Randy, I'm Jan from Indiana. My doctor was Hess from Bowling Green, OH, but they let me hang around here also. My husband and I were just in Vegas. I was talking to my slot host about my surgery and she was telling me that her husband was obese, so could I give her all the info. I told her of Dr K and of this web site, so he may be lurking as I type. If so, I hope May's husband jumps in with any questions he may have. Yes, there are cases coming up about internet 'libel' but that is when websites are created to destroy someone's business. And since the cases haven't even been heard yet, no reason to get your shorts in a knot. You also have no reason to 'wonder why a group would encourage this', as people discuss things, and to stop the discussion, other than for flaming other members of the group would be fraught with control issues, it's isn't done. Guest guest
Welcome Suzanne!!! Wow what a vaccine story! Its funny the nurses really " get it " doctors have a much harder time!!! Guest guest
Welcome Suzanne. I, too, am (was) an RN. I can identify with what you went through. My 2 children were fully vaxed until 3 years ago when I started researching the dangers of vaccinations after our puppy had a reaction to his shots. My kids are now 12 and 14. I got a religious exemption for them this year(they've missed their 11 year old tetanus booster so far.) We live in Kentucky where there is no philosophical exemption unfortunately. We haven't been to a doctor in over a year since we now use homeopathy exclusively, so our doctor doesn't know of our decision. I have no doubt we'd get the same reaction from her as you did from your doctor. But that's quite alright. They wouldn't be the ones taking care of a vaccine damaged child 24/7 would they? You've come to a great list! Again, welcome. Kay New to the Group Hi! I'm new to this group. My name is Suzanne and I am a mother of 4 children. The first is fully vaccinated ;( The second up to age three and the third up to 9 mo. and the fourth, born at home and not a vaccine has come near her! I first became interested in the issue of vaccination about 18 mos. ago when talking to a friend about the drug industry. I'm not sure how we got on the subject (we are both RN's) but he began to tell me what was in vaccines (thimerosol, phenol, formaldehyde, aluminum etc...). I thought he was nuts but I began to do some research and was just sick with what I've read. I felt like I was in Nazi Germany during the war and panicked about what was I going to do if I refused vaccination. I live in Ohio and thankfully there is a philosophical exemption here but I felt my best defense would be to get educated. This is such a difficult subject and so hard to understand. My oldest, I feel may have a form of ADD. I am RH negative and of course the rhogam they give pregnant women at 28 weeks to prevent RH sensitization had mercury in it. Nothing worse than exposing your fetus to mercury! Not to mention I wouldn't eat tuna for fear of mercury exposure! I feel so betrayed by our system, yet blessed that my children haven't contracted some debilitating illness due to vaccines. When I took my children into their pediatrician for routine visits, I told them I no longer wanted vaccinations and cited my reasons. The doctor went bullistics on my and told me that she would no longer see my children! She told me she felt sorry for my children! I only feel sorry for all of the children that she has maimed and the ones she will kill in the future! I feel like a fool, having held my children down for all of those vaccines. It is the biggest regret in my life! I can only pray that they do not incur any damage from what they have been given so far. I am so angry to read about all of the beautiful little children who have been killed or debilitated by vaccines and how the government protects the vaccine industry! This is insane! You cannot say you live in a free society when there are laws that say you have to be injected with something because it's for the good of everyone! It is my desire to become as educated as possible to prevent future badgering of myself and my family. Suzanne Akron, OH

Guest guest
> Hi! I'm new to this group. My name is Suzanne and I am a mother of 4 children. Welcome!! > I live in Ohio and thankfully there is a philosophical exemption here but I felt my best defense would be to get educated.> I live in Washington State and we too have a philosophical exemption. It's amazing though how few people know about it -- everyone is always asking how I get my kids in to school without shots. When I tell them I just sign my name on a dotted line saying I choose not to get my kids vaccinated they are stunned at how easy it is. >>I am RH negative and of course the rhogam they give pregnant women at 28 weeks to prevent RH sensitization had mercury in it.>> Yeah, I had those shots too. Was not too crazy about it, but then again, I didn't know then what I know now > The doctor went bullistics on my and told me that she would no longer see my children!> Sorry that happened So far my pediatricians haven't really said much. I think they've noted it in my kids' charts that I don't vaccinate them, so they don't even mention it (or haven't in the last couple years anyway...) > I feel like a fool, having held my children down for all of those vaccines.> I hear you! Only my oldest has had any -- we went up to 15 months -- but I so know how you feel!! When I hear about my friends taking their kids in for shots I just cringe and my guts twist and I want to scream, " Do you know what you are doing?! " The few times I've said anything about not doing shots people look at me like I'm nuts and some have actually shunned me because of it. I also didn't circumcise my son...that's always a shocker to a lot of people too - LOL Again...welcome!! He said why, unless there's a problem.............. One of my American patients recently mentioned this and I was very surprised (never knew this, not in Asia either) and puzzled. What's the % of circumcised men? And the reason??? Is it the same reason why americans remove their wisdom teeth as soon as they appear?
