Guest guest
Hi , I just caught up on this series of postings and I also wanted to say that I think it is great that you and your daughter are going to do this together. I too was a severely overweight child, starting at around age 7 and continuing until I was 20. Though my Mom encouraged me to lose weight, I had no idea on how to do that. I sympathize with - teasing is brutal, and much like her, I was an emotional eater. After a long and hard day of teasing, nothing made me feel quite as good/bad as eating every piece of junk in the house. I too did most of my eating in hiding because I was embarassed and ashamed. I'm 25 years old, and if you think your daughter would like to talk to someone my age for questions, support, swapping stories, etc., then please give her my email. I would love to talk to her and support her along the way. Again, I applaud you for what you are doing and I truly wish you and the best of luck. > Hi > > I want to say thanks to everyone that offered a warm and encouraging > welcome to both my daughter and myself. > > Some of the emails that I received where very emotional for me but a > big eye opener. > > We have taken my daughter to the doctor and they has no trouble with > her doing the BFL diet. Guest guest
from Dale, Mom to Katy, CVID, age 19 Brandee, I'm glad I could help. But, no, Ursula is the backbone of this group -- but she's just finished her nursing school and into her first nursing job -- so she's pretty busy in addition to being the mother of a CVID'er, and her husband has recently been diagnosed also. So -- hats off to Ursula, but glad I could help. We serve a mighty God who brings peace and love and joy in places where you wouldn't expect it! Guest guest
You are very welcome. Breast cancer has touched my extended family as well, and my Dad passed away a few years back of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. What's 5 bucks? If everyone even just gave a dollar (which I know they can, because I just sold 25 candy bars yesterday within a 2-block area at $1 a piece!) I think you'd be well over your goal! Good luck on your 5K - I'd love to do one in my area and might just look into it. The ones here lately have been 10K's and I don't think I'm ready for that! Plus I need child care, too. And the advice about just doing your HIIT while running the race was good, too. Do you think you'll try that? Or just run at a steady pace? With that encouragement from your dad, I don't know.... ) http://qwesteferral.com/r.jsp?a=Fmu9DBSgHpRfVU541Lz2HA$$ & x Thank you ...Thank you so much for the donation!! I really appreciate it and I will post the results of my race after next weekend so you can see how I did. It will be extra motivation for me, knowing that part of the money I raised came from a BFL member...teehee!!! I can't let ya down! My dad donated some and then sent me an email to tell me he ran a 10k when he was 32 in 59 minutes and then had a cigarette afterwards...so I have a bit of motivation there as well. I can't let my pack a day cigarette smoking dad beat me!!! ROFL M.

Guest guest
Got this from "The Doctor " and decided to send it on, This will give our new members history on CB, as well as the Doctors response to my tirade. LOL, I just had to a word in.... CB was really awnry yesterday, and I was doing everything I could think of to calm him down. Then he finally had a BM, as a matter of fact he he had quit a few.. to the point that at 6:30 he had the runs so bad he couldnt make it to the potty ontime. But the behavior change was extreme...suddenly after the first. He was probably having a tummy ache. I still have today to get though...wish me luck LOL Hope you all have a Wonderful Holiday ! CB's Granny I did not discount parents on the list. I wrote to them with honesty and sincerity. Being a parent of a child with a serious condition does not make your evaluation of information any more valid than any other person's. But being a scientist and caring about the truth does provide additional access to information and a different perspective from which to evaluate evidence. This perspective has been pretty darned successful in improving things beyond incorrect causal theories of bad air and bad diets as the cause of disease, cupping, bleeding, and purging which were approved medical treatments of LESS THAN 100 YEARS AGO My compassion is and will remain for people who waste their time on blind alleys when the truth is available to all. Sometimes the truth conflicts with personal notions of cause and effect, and while this kind of error is human and excusable, it is remediable by using valid methods of discovering the truth, not but hot assertions and character assassination; and the rejection of further inquiry and the people who are working on your behalf is damaging to no one else but yourself. I am not those people who apparently wronged you in the past, but may be looking at me through the lens that they gave you. Why give them that kind of power? Good luck to you, and thanks for writing. At 11:25 AM 12/20/2003, you wrote: Dr Mulick, Thank you for sending the information on behavior management. We in the group appreciate your participation . You asked why we are cynical and defensive, I can only give you my point of view. My grandchild became very ill after recieving his 15th month series of vaccine, he had been experiencing normal age-appropriate development until that point. He speech completly regressed and disappeared and his aggression became a constant problem. My children took him to his pediatrician with their concerns. The Doctor's answer was the onset of " terrible twos " and that we had better get behavior under control. The physical examination that took place that day, resulted in the doctor causing my granchilds ear to bleed. It was only due to my constant nagging that my children started searching for a reason for his regression. The process which lasted until he was 2 1/2. The " no specific dx " WAS the the DX. We chose autism. as it allowed us the services for speech therapy, and OT. He then was seen at UCLA ( age 4 ) and was offically dx as high funtioning autism. I wont even go into how extremely difficult it has been to follow though with how his behavior and education should be handled, as we cannot find a school that will or can comply with UCLA's instructions. This is a bright, funny, loving 6 year old boy, that I and his private educators believe really has a future. But the heartbreak and struggle ( including filing a child abuse report against a public school ...he came home with welts and bruises on his back and legs and was homeschooled by me for a year ) Has left a great deal of damage. This story isn't unique Doctor.....its the norm.... and when you add the lack of compassion, well....we get cynical and defensive. While the group appreciates any and all information received by professionals, we feel we must take it all with a grain of salt. We have been misled and misdirected in the past by such professionals who have not been properly trained in the field of autism. To my knowledge, most physicians only receive the barest information on autism in medical school. Based on our history, we feel that it was our blind trust in these professionals which directly led to my grandson's autism. I think that we can all agree that more research is required before any of us can make a blatent assumption on the safety of vaccines and the mercury additives. Instead of blindly following the accepted norm, we feel we need to question why? Why our children have been exposed to the second most toxic substance on earth? Why autism has increased from 1 in 10,000 to 1 in 163 in the last five years? In closing, why not put your money where your mouth is, so to speak. Instead of discounting the parents on this list, why not use your reputation to receive grant funds to study the cause of this disorder that affects so many families. Thank you for your time and attention. Sincerely yours, Lorna E. Berry lornaberry@... A. I know how much some list members are offended by porn spam, so I do my best to try and ferret out the spammers before they get access to the list, because it is uncensored. Therefore, I am very cautious in allowing anyone to sign up using that format, especially if they have provided no information in the profile section. Welcome to the list! We have learned to cope with it in our own ways, and really no one looks at him like he is "diffrent", he acts like most 2 year olds. Thank you Thank you guys for taking the time to read my long post and reply with your own experiences, it helps to know that I am not just overreacting. I will keep you posted after her eval. Aside from medication (I really want to stay away from meds as long as possible) what other techniques/diets have you used to help your children function more efficiently?e
Guest guest
Hello Jenni, You are such a sweet one. I can't begin to tell you how much your message means to me. I always feel my life is wonderful, but every so often when people I love are hurting, I truly appreciate the love, support and prayers offered. There is nothing more powerful, or more appreciated than a prayer on our behalf. No gift means more to me. Love to you, Rashelle 's surgery Just a quick note to let you know that 's surgery went really well. The doctor is pretty confident that the growth was cancer free but we won't be 100 percent sure until we get the results from the biopsy. Thank you all for the prayers. I think the entire family got all of about 2 hours sleep last night. Right now his brother (our Airman who came home for the surgery) is on one side of him and his dad on the other watching him sleep and rubbing his head. We are so grateful for such a positive outcome! Thank you all so much for your prayers and good wishes. with love, Jenni Proud Air Force Mom! May God guide and protect our troops! Guest guest
Thank you Liz, Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I am in stage 3 of fibrosis. My viral load was 92.6 Mil at the last count. I am currently in my second series of shots. Just did my 7th shot out of 48 Saturday. Last year when I was first diagnosed I Had a load of 3mil. After three months of Peg-Interferon it was 'Undectecable' Two weeks after my 24th shot I was up to 15 mil. Withi 2 months it shot up to the 92.6 mil. The GI Dr did have it retested to confirm that high of a count. This time they have almost doubled my PegIntron 2b. The depression at times if quite overwelming. Thoghts of suicide are very real and not a scary thought. That really concerns my wife and I. We have gotten rid off all the guns in the house. I was seriously thinking one day last week about using it to end my problem. I have found that my dreams the night before really affect what type of a day I am going to have. It sometimes takes me a while to sort out the dreams with reality when I wake up. I do black out at times and do not remeber coversations or some of my actions. I ahve not acted on these feelings. And so far the three Groups I have joined on have been very helpful with keeping my desire to continue alive. Liz, Dick, Kathy,Pat,Gail,Gil just to mane a few. These aren't "best" tapes so don't have high expectations, but they are easy to follow, not complicated whatsover, so they are good if you have a tendency to get lost with fancy choreography. The instructors are bubble heads, but I like that they do the workouts outside on the beach! The black man, Kendall something or other, is nice to look at :-) Hope your posting situation clears up !
