Guest guest
That's great news! Also, what is the Paleo diet? Melinda C. > > Good news. I had a few books lying around like Betrayers of the Truth and The Death of Humane Medicine, Janine ' new book and 's books. Woohoo. A father of a partially vaxed 2 yr old (until she stopped breathing after one of them) is interested in learning more. His wife is into the Paleo diet so this is really cool as- they are already familiar with " wierd " - lol!. When he gets home tonight we are going to exchange links on our interests. > One by one. Others were listening in to our conversation and no one attacked our point of view. Mind you, it is a lot easier for us, as #1DS is a living graphic example of why people should not allow the injection of foreign material into their darling babies. > Mothers Day has been wonderful! > Mara > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I think it is mostly raw, including meat & fish, like a hunter/gatherer diet but not the products of agriculture - so not much grain. No rice or wheat, but I know she eats a little quinoa and millet. She is soooo slim. Lots of fruit & veg. He has sent me some links which I haven't had time to check. Would you like them too? DGS is having an afternoon nap, hence a few moments " stolen " at the computer. ( I'm weird enough to think that it might not be a good idea to have the computer on when he is around - I haven't studied the effects of the gauss emitted to make a definitive decision yet! LOL! Guest guest
Hunter/Gatherer... nuts, seeds, veggies, lean meats. I follow a diet similar to this, and it's becoming more and more Paleo as I learn about my son's allergens. Guest guest
Do you eat raw meat? I eat raw fish that has been marinaded in lemon juice for half an hour. Guest guest
Oh heck no! I'll eat NO meat over raw meat... just a personal thing I can't get past. Guest guest
Thanks for the info...I'm going to give this a try. Penny > > Success!!! > > I've been happy with my kefir from the get go. But now the texture has finally gotten smooth and creamy, and the taste is much milder! I'm terribly pleased with my grains and with myself. > > This is nothing new to most of you, but for anyone else like me, wondering why your kefir texture comes out nowhere near smooth and creamy, I thought I'd share my joyous eureka (a glorious " duh " moment). > > I'd thought I had my ratio of kefir grains/milk in the right vicinity, according to instructions. Apparently I was terribly mistaken. I finally DRASTICALLY reduced the quantity of milk kefir grains I was using, started to consistently culture for 24 hours no matter what (as Marilyn suggests) and the kefir started to get smooth and creamy and almost as thick as yogurt. While the rest of my family still feels it is too yeasty to drink it undisguised (they do like kefir smoothies, kefir popsicles, and kefir mixed into frozen fruit " ice cream " ), I really love it now, just as it is. > > If I pull my grains out of the kefir WITHOUT first swishing them in the kefir (I used to swish them to get the bigger bits of curd off), I'm left with smooth and creamy deliciousness. I put the grains in a small bowl, pour the little bit of whey off the top of the kefir into the bowl, and use that to swish the big bits of curd off the grains. Then I put the grains in a clean jar with new milk, drink the curds and whey from the bowl, and slowly savour the good, thick, smooth kefir from the first jar. I know everyone has their own system. This is what is working for me. > > Happy culturing to you. > > from one very happy andra >
