I am so looking forward to getting this surgery thing done and over with.

I want my life back.

The other day I was thinking back about when did I first notice that

something weird was going on with my body. And the thoughts took me back

to the fall of 2005, that is the first time I remember have a spasm attack.

While back then I did not know what it was and why it was happening, I

still distinctly remember that day like it was yesterday. While thing

progressed along slowly over the next 3 years, I do recall having spasms

from time to time which were coupled with NCCP. It was in 2009 that I

started regurgitating during a meal and that got worse and worse over the

last couple of years. Then in 2011, the night time regurgitating started

as just once in a while but by the fall of 2011, they became the normal

routine around 3 or 4 am.

The last week leading up to surgery day has been probably the worst yet and

I am eager to get it done. My wife asked me today if I am nervous and my

reply was no I am looking forward to getting my life back or at least some

portion of it back without the constant discomfort. So checkin is at 6 am

and surgery starts at 7:30 am. So off to bed I go and hope and pray that I

actually get some sleep tonight. I will keep you posted as I recover and

hopefully will be able to add another great doctor to the list of good docs.

Geof, I'm so glad for you! I'm not so far past that I've forgotten. Hope I

never forget: it's been a scary, interesting, amazing trip -- both down and

back. As I write this, I can visualize about where you are at this very moment:

in the tiny pre-op room, about to be wheeled down the hall to the operating

room, and the bright lights, and the quiet bustle, and . . . . And then waking

in post-op. And then your room. And most of all that first swallow. Imagine:

a journey of 12 inches, and it's pure miracle!

Holding you in the light all of today.
