Guest guest
Thanks Ross, I must admit my eyebrows raised when I noticed that bit of spamming. Like the rest of the commercial garbage that people are running past my eyes, this was quickly consigned to the trash can. " This how a virus does this...Example: Someone sends your friend an e-mail with a virus... she opens the attachment and launchs the virus. YOUR e-mail is sitting in her inbox or your e-mail address is in her address book and the virus decides to use your e-mail address to procreate itself by sending infected e-mails to everyone in your friends address book. Now you start getting kicked off of lists, angry phone calls for spam because the virus has cloned itself as you and it's off and running wild in your name. Guest guest
I know. It seems there is something that can be done. I followed the link in these emails to a singles meet up web site. They also offer low finance rate loans, go figure. There was a way to contact the web administer, and I did send them a nasty message, and I will report it as soon as I know who to report it to. All 3 spamers were from the same site. I guess it is really easy to forge someone's email address, but I still don't get it. If they are sending out stuff for a site like this, I think the site should be fined. You know these people aren't just advertising for this site out of the goodness of their hearts. Guest guest
Absolutely. There has got to be a way to stop this. All 3 were ads for the same site, and all 3 came from different names, but with my address. It seems the site should be investigated. It is really embarrassing, especially because people wonder how they got your address in the first place. Its not like I visit these sites!! Guest guest
Joyce, I don't know how it works now, but several years ago you could set your settings to read whatever you wanted. When setting up your e-mail through a program like Outlook, you could set it to display someone else's address. I am not sure if it is still that way or not. I have been online for over 10 years now, there sure are a lot of changes. Dawn Washington State -----Original Message----- I don't know how someone else can use your addy but they can!!! Guest guest
Hi everyone, I've been lurking for the past couple of weeks and I wanted to say that this is really a lovely list. I also have a question: My partner and I are moving from a house almost surrounded by aloe plants to a new house with no plants at all. We'd like to take some of that wonderful aloe gel with us in usable form. Can anyone tell me how to bottle it and preserve it without it going bad in a short time? What would be the shelf life of such preserved aloe gel? And incidentally, if anyone has any tips on the care and feeding of transplanted aloe plants, we'd be glad! Thanks! Guest guest
I was told to add **!0000 as the first name in my address book. I can't remember the reason exactly but it is something about if a virus does come in contact with your address book it will see **!0000 as the first address, it won't understand it and it will give up and leave the rest of your address list alone. But viruses get smarter everyday so this won't help forever, but I have never had a virus attract my address book in my e-mail using this method. -Trin > This example happened exactly like this to me some 6-8 >months ago.
