We try to prevent spam by requiring people who want to join the group to state why they would like to join. Occasionally someone might slip through but it prevents 99% of it. Also there's been a lot of spam emails sent from legitimate member accounts who've been infected with a virus. I alert those people to check their pc's and put them on moderation until problem is resolved.

that's about all I can do, you can pretty much tell a spam email if one slips through by the content or the fact that it only gives a web address. Just ignore those or alert me.

Thanks
