Guest guest
Hi Kate! I am glad that you found the list and decided to post. Welcome! With this breathing stuff, you just have to take it one day at a time. ~Karma Hi all From: "kzall" <kzall@...> Hi Bonnie, Hi Karma, Hi Kacey, Hi Rashelle, Hi Everyone! You look MARVELOUS! Some of you may remember me from the other breathing lists. I have been quiet for quite a while. A family emergency took me away for a couple of months and I haven't caught up since. I keep going no mail as the emails pile up but then I miss you all and the smiles we share. I've read many of the wonderful things that everyone has to say about LifeLift. I too agree that it is so much better than the others. I tried Oxycise and Bodyflex before LifeLift. Both the others were too hard for me. I never could get Oxycise down and Bodyflex stressed my back and neck. Both were to frenetic for me. I have days when breathing at all can feel like it takes too much energy! But Rashelle, both on her tape and by email, encouraged me to do what I could and rejoice that I was that much closer to feeling great. Little by little it's working. I don't always get a full routine done but I try to find places throughout my day to at least do breaths. I'm still not the poster child for LL, but don't rule me out yet. :~) Can't wait to see the new tapes. Kate :~)
Guest guest
Hi sis! So glad to hear from you. And glad you're on the list. I too had a rough time with "O" and "BF" didn't seem to do much for me.[ As you probably remember :-) ] Am trusting God that "LL" is my answer. So nice to have the creator of the program you use around to help you out. Not to mention some other great people so fast to try and help. Take care and God bless! No fun. We've got squirrels in the garage, which is certainly a livable thing, but sure makes putting trash out an annoyance!!! Once, DH left the kitchen door wide open (he likes to do this...dunno why) and came in to find a squirrel in our kitchen, perched on the dog's bowl, eating dog food!! Ya gotta laugh!! << In the meantime, PB's risperdal has been upped, and we're not sure what is going on with his aggressions/disruptions at school. >> Boy, I sure hope it makes the difference MB. Maddie's been acting up too (not with aggression-----Maddie's underreactive), but at the same time making great strides in SI therapy....She's just being so resistant. Getting her up and down steps has become a huge chore for her teacher. Yet, she can do two at a time when she WANTS to go up steps.....I know she loves resistance,,,so maybe it's a sensory thing..I dunno. << DH and I visited 2 classes today in two different schools- both were actually very well run but segregated classes- one just for kids with autism using the TEACCH method and the other, a " multi -handicapped " class. It was WONDERFUL to see PECS in place all day long in the TEACCH class.>> We visited an autism school here too MB, that also implements TEACCH. While I have read much on TEACCH and was excited about it, this school was NOT for us. NO WAY would Maddie fit in. For one thing, as I toured I noticed that all the doors were kept open (it was a warm day) and I asked about *runners*. They told me they have kids that are runners and that's why they put stop signs at the ends of all the corridors------------------HUH????????? I nearly laughed...actually I did!! Plus, they had a very tiny cinder blocked room that they used as a time out room-----Man, I couldn't RUN outta that place fast enough. I've also checked out the Philly school district life-skills classes and multiply-handicapped classes, AND the autistic support classes!! NO WAY to all of those too. We just had Maddie's IEP with the district (I believe you all heard about our marathon meeting----4 hours and 20 minutes) and it was GRUELING to put it mildly. However, we did get everything we asked for, which was aps (approved private school----we found what we believe to be a wonderful place for Maddie to go to school), OT and ST services (No PT, the kid could climb Mt. Everest), ESY, curb to curb transportation with car-seat, easing into program with an hour at a time, moving to more as parents see fit, AND the biggie-----On-going training for staff in Greenspan's floortime, which we've documented as the ONLY thing that works for Maddie. When we walked out of there, we all hugged (Maddie's teacher and SW at her early intervention school----they were FABULOUS) and DH said I should be so proud of myself for everything....however, when I left I just came home and cried; I was so emotionally drained. Took a couple days to really appreciate what we got!! I sure hope you find something for PB that makes you feel good about where he is too!!!!!! {{{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Donna
