Dr Sandhya Bhalla, Social Development Consultant

Dr Sandhya Bhalla, has a PhD in Social Science from

the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and a

Masters in Industrial Psychology from Delhi

University.

Work experience: With a background in Psychology and

Management, areas of work too vary from HIV/AIDS

prevention, care and control, sex and sexuality with

youth and the community, reproductive health and

population management, empowerment of women through

literacy, income generation for PLWA?s as well as

management consultancy.

Developed and implemented the CII AIDS Workplace

programme in over 1700 member companies and tailor

made the programme for the Indian Tea Association in

Assam and west Bengal. Besides, the other activities

are; out reach programmes, community programmes,

social support, youth development programmes, advocacy

and training of trainers and income generation

programmes for People Living with HIV/AIDS.

Facilitated the AIDS workplace Programmes for other

Chambers of Commerce in and around India .Also a core

member of the Technical Resource Group of the National

AIDS Control Organization, Ministry of Health,

Government of India.

Developed a model for the Indian Pharmacist

Association for HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care and Control.

Paper presentations at Manila, Geneva, Bangkok, Paris,

Malaysia, London, Nepal and Dhaka.

A Consultant with WHO, GPA for setting up of the

HIV/AIDS regional counseling centers in India for

NACO, pretesting of the schools communication package

on HIV/AIDS in Delhi as well as member of the

evaluation team of UNDP for the Thailand Business

Coalition on HIV/AIDS.

Actively involved with, Sahara, a half way home for

residential care for HIV/AIDS and Drugs, Drishtikon,

Human Links and many more.
